2009-10 Bowl Projections

CFN's projections are pure gold:

Rose Bowl presented by Citi
January 1, Pasadena, CA 5 pm ABC
BCS vs. BCS (Big Ten vs. Pac 10 champion, if available)
Projection:
Penn State vs. USC

Allstate Sugar Bowl
January 1, New Orleans, LA 8:30 pm Fox
BCS vs. BCS (SEC Champion, if available)
Projection:
Alabama vs. Texas

Tostitos Fiesta Bowl
January 4, Phoenix, AZ 8 pm Fox
BCS vs. BCS (Big 12 Champion, if available)
Projection:
Oklahoma vs. Boise State

FedEx Orange Bowl
January 5, Miami Gardens, FL, 8 pm Fox
BCS vs. BCS (ACC Champion, if available)
Projection:
Miami vs. Notre Dame

Citi BCS National Championship
January 7, Pasadena, CA, 8 pm Fox
BCS No. 1 vs. BCS No. 2
Projection:
Florida vs. Cincinnati

No argument with the Rose and Sugar Bowls at this time.... maybe sub Cal in for USC.
No one wants to see Boise St. in a BCS game, let alone beating Oklahoma again.
Notre Dame in the Orange? :rofl:
Cincinnati in the MNC game? :slappy:

Here's a scary thought - what happens if they win out? They'd be an undefeated team in a BCS conference. Isn't that your ticket to the National Championship?

What happens if there's an upset in one (or both) of the Big 12 and SEC championships? Does an undefeated UC team get snubbed?

I honestly don't think an undefeated UC (or any other Big East team) gets in over a one-loss Big 12 or SEC team, and I don't think it would be a snub at all. Frankly, it's a joke that the Big East gets an automatic bid right now. That's not to say I don't think UC is a top-25 team; I think they are. But they're the class of that conference and I don't think they're one of the top 15 teams in the country. Look at the Big East next to the Mountain West, as I see both conferences shaping up, and tell me which conference is better:

BYU / UC
TCU / Pitt
Utah / WVU
UNLV / UCONN
Air Force / Louisville
Colorado State / USF
Wyoming / Syracuse
San Diego State / Rutgers
New Mexico

I'm honestly not sure which is better, but if I had to pick one of the two, I'd probably go with the Mountain West right now. I think pollsters realize just how mediocre the Big East is, and I don't think they'd have any qualms about skipping over an undefeated team from that conference. I don't think any of the teams in the Big East are good enough to make the voters think twice, either.

The Fiesta may not have a choice; they get the last pick this year. I highly doubt the Sugar or Orange would take Boise on purpose.

That's incorrect. The Sugar picks last this year.

January 2007 games: Sugar, Orange, Fiesta
January 2008 games: Orange, Fiesta, Sugar
January 2009 games: Fiesta, Sugar, Orange
January 2010 games: Orange, Fiesta, Sugar
CFB - - FOX Sports on MSN

Also, last year the Sugar did take the non-BCS team, Utah, over Cincinnati. The selection process was:

Rose was locked into PSU and USC as Big Ten and Pac Ten champs;
Orange was locked into Va Tech as ACC champ
Fiesta chose Texas to replace No. 1 Oklahoma;
Sugar chose Alabama to replace No. 2 Florida;
Fiesta had the first at large and chose OSU;
Sugar had the second at large and chose Utah; and
Orange had the last selection and had to take Big East champ Cincy.

Under CFN's scenario above,
Rose would be locked into PSU and USC as Big Ten and Pac Ten champs;
Orange would be locked into Miami as the ACC champ;
Fiesta would be locked into Oklahoma as the Big 12 champ;
Sugar would chose Alabama to replace No. 1 Florida;
Orange has the first at large and chooses Notre Dame;
Fiesta has the second at large and would need to decide between a rematch between Oklahoma and Texas or a rematch from a couple of years ago between Oklahoma and Boise;
Sugar has the last at large and would take the team of Boise or Texas not taken by the Fiesta.

Bottom line is that under that scenario the Fiesta would in fact have the choice to not take Boise.

(This was all based on the 10 teams given by CFN.)

Good catch, 33.

The BCS rules and selection process are summarized in the first post of a sticky thread in this forum, since there's frequent misunderstandings of the process, and the BCS football.org site has a lengthy explanation.

Good catch, apparently I'm dyslexic. I was at that link. I was aware that last year Utah was picked over Cinci. Utah was undefeated though. I think a non-AQ gets in this year, but not undefeated.
