2008 tOSU Spring Game (4/19) & Practice Discussion

Yeah, I don't have a problem with any of them being on there, really, I just fail to see why OSU wouldn't be on there. And this isn't me being a biased fan. I can safely say that we're a top 10 team every year. And the ones the mentioned aren't top 10 teams for the most part.

Oh well, it's ESPN. It was Dari Nowkhah, Mark May, and Todd McShay. Three people I really don't enjoy. Only reason I was watching it was because the hockey game was between periods. :tongue2:

I still don't understand why changing (increasing?) a jersey number is any type of punishment. Is there some sort of honor/significance tied to lower jersey numbers?

I thought it was a bit weird but I am inseperable with my #7, so I can understand. In regards to Small, as long as they don't demote him to say #13 I think he'll be fine

Frosh usually get the leftover #'s, and often have to wait their turn for their desired number. Small was wearing Santonio Holmes' number. Now he's sporting Devin Jordan's.

Ohio state football
Offense efficient, but shows little flash
Turnover-free performance wins jersey scrimmage

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH
This is what an audition looks like when there aren't many parts available. Ohio State put on a rather uninspired jersey scrimmage yesterday in Ohio Stadium, amid blustery conditions that felt like an episode of Survivor: Newfoundland.
There were a few big plays, but not many. Overall, with the Buckeyes returning 18 starters, this spring has felt like the team is mostly marking time. The offense won and retained the scarlet jerseys used in practice despite missing both starting guards, its top receiver (Brian Robiskie) and star running back (Beanie Wells), who sat out because of injuries.
They won despite quarterback play coach Jim Tressel called "pretty fair" for starter Todd Boeckman and "average" for his two backups. The reason for the offense's win is that it committed no turnovers.
That's the optimistic view.
Boeckman threw touchdown passes of 53 and 25 yards to Brian Hartline, and directed a 70-yard scoring drive capped by a Brandon Saine 22-yard run.

Jersey report (without a score!)

I'm adamant that the score means nothing in these jersey scrimmages, so let's just say the offense won, mainly because they had no turnovers and made a few big plays.
Here are a few off-the-cuff observations. I may come back with more tomorrow if stuff hits me.
-- RB Brandon Saine will be used like he should have been used last season: as a runner, outlet receiver, occasionally split out wide, on returns, etc. He's 220 pounds and can fly. Good combination. His TD run was special, turned on the jets to reach the corner, then bowled through some guys near the goal line. Nice.
-- QB Todd Boeckman is light years ahead of Antonio Henton and Joe Bauserman. If that's a surprise, shame on you. I'm not sure Henton is progressing as much as Jim Tressel would like, just reading between the lines.

Tickets bought @ McDonalds benefit Ronald McDonald House

If you are going to the spring game, only tickets purchased at central Ohio McDonald restaurants benefit the local Ronald McDonald House. $1 of every ticket helps fund the "home away from home" for families of children staying at the Children's Hospital. Please use this as an opportunity to see the Bucks and give to a great cause at the same time!

I am planning to attend the spring game for the first time and I have some questions. Can someone please help me with these?

1. Is it safe to buy the tickets at the stadium gate just before the game? Is there a chance that the tickets may not be available? The reason I am hesitating to buy the tickets in advance is that I am not sure how many will attend the game with me. I am expecting that 4 of my friends would join me as well.

2. Am I allowed to carry handycams (video) inside the stadium and tape the game? If not, can I carry a digital camera?

3. What is the nearest parking lot for cars with no OSU parking permit and how much does it cost for the parking?

4. What is the best location in the stadium to watch the game?

Thanks a lot.

You can definitely carry a camera into the game, I've taken my Digital SLR & 70-200 lens in 3 different times. If for some reason you are given problems at the gate, just leave and go to another one.

I think you'd run into a lot more problems iwth a video camera, as the rights issues are much more strict with the BTN. At the Um spring game, media outlets were only permitted to publish 4 min of video due to their rights.

I'd recommend sticking with the normal spring game broadcast and/or downloading/ripping the torrent I'm sure will be posted here afterwards.

4. C-Deck.
