Ohio State football team puts on show of things to come for about 12,000 in Ohio Stadium

Columbus- At USC, the crowds at practice are so thick, the players have to dodge fans as they run from field to field.
At Illinois and Texas Tech, every practice this preseason has been open, Illini coach Ron Zook stopping to talk to fans each day, while Red Raiders fans on the sideline "can literally rub elbows with the players if they want," according to reporter Don Williams from the Lubbock, Texas, Avalanche-Journal.
Ohio State hasn't allowed fans at practice since Jim Tressel's second season. Now the Buckeyes are keeping a little more distance from their fans.

Buckeyes show off for fans a little, keep most close to the vest

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

Ohio State welcomed the public into its living room last night and treated the visitors to the football equivalent of two hours of small talk. It's hard to blame the Buckeyes -- when you have 12,000 houseguests, you're not going to get into deep, meaningful conversations.
So the fans who showed up at Ohio Stadium watched an hour and 15 minutes of individual and perimeter drills, which doesn't make for thrilling viewing, before getting to the good stuff -- 45 minutes of full-team action.
During that time, fans might have noticed that the Buckeyes plan to run and pass this season. Seriously, did anyone expect the team to pull out secret formations and trick plays?
That stuff was worked on at Saturday's jersey scrimmage, which was closed to the public and media.

Terrelle Pryor is the tallest quarterback and Mike Adams is the tallest offensive lineman. OK, that's a couple of trite observations. But at least it was fun to finally see the two prized freshman recruits working out with Ohio State last night in an open practice in Ohio Stadium. The session drew a crowd estimated at 12,000, and even though no autographs were allowed, the fans got to watch the Buckeyes go through a 25-period practice that started with stretching and ended with field-goal kicking.
In between, you also might have noticed:
PRYOR STOOD NEXT to returning starter Todd Boeckman during warm-ups and tossed short passes to running back Chris "Beanie" Wells. More fans were paying attention to Pryor, which was hardly a surprise considering it was their first chance to see him in the stadium in an OSU uniform.

We all knew this was pretty much going to be a "guarded" practice and it really wasn't conducive to taking photos so I sat in the stands for the first 45 mins or so and only snapped about 40 photos when I finally did go down there. Decided my time would be spent better observing the practice than taking meaningless photos. It was quite frankly a bore from a photographer's point of view.

Aug 30th can't come soon enough!
