Do you guys think Laurinaitis is coming out this year? And what other early entries from your team do you expect?

For Michigan, I've got a feeling we could lose Manningham and Arrington, but that's about it as far as juniors go.

Don't have a feel as of yet but my gut says "yes."

Last year they both showed the draft, and saw in one of the stories about the changes that both will show it again this year. I remember seeign some of the NFL Netwrks coverage last year and it wasn't to bad, will get better in time.

Now if they would only get the draft off of ESPN and put it on the NFL Network (we all know it is going to happen)! No more idiotic, over-used catch-phrases by Berman. No more assinine comments by the self-annointed draft guru, Mel Kiper Jr. who is more interested in himself then anything actually occurring at the draft. And no more coverage by a network that thinks it makes the news rather than reporting it.

I think he'll leave if tOSU wins the NC. There really wouldn't be any reason (sports wise) for him to stay. If they don't win the NC game, I think he'll be back.

CNNSI - Top 10 Defensive Draft Prospects

10 Gholston, 9 Rivers, 8 Jenkins, 7 Maualuga, 6 Campbell, 5 Ellis, 4 Laurinaitis, 3 Phillips, 2 Long, 1 Dorsey
Gholston is a forceful penetrator who constantly makes plays in the opponent's backfield. Lining up at defensive end for the Buckeyes, he projects to outside linebacker in a 3-4 alignment at the next level.
A shut-down corner with sprinter's speed, Jenkins' game has improved this season. As a result he's likely to be the first corner drafted if he leaves for the NFL.
A dominant defender who could be used at a variety of linebacker spots, Laurinaitis has elevated his game this year.

OSU football notebook: Three juniors among top 20 NFL prospects

Friday, November 2, 2007 3:28 AM
By Ken Gordon

The Columbus Dispatch

Should they decide to turn professional, three Ohio State players could be among the top 20 picks in the 2008 NFL draft. That's according to rankings released by Sports Illustrated on its Web site. No Buckeyes are listed among the top 10 offensive players, but the defensive list includes linebacker James Laurinaitis (fourth), cornerback Malcolm Jenkins (eighth) and end Vernon Gholston (10th). All three are juniors, with Gholston being a fourth-year junior.

Ohio State could lose Laurinaitis -- among others -- early

Friday, November 09, 2007Doug Lesmerises
Plain Dealer Reporter
Columbus -- How is James Laurinaitis supposed to return for his senior season at Ohio State now that the first official Brian Urlacher comparison has been made?
Ohio State's middle linebacker, likened to the Chicago Bears' All-Pro by Rob Rang, a senior analyst for NFLdraftscout.com, is one of five junior Buckeyes with a shot to go in the first round of April's NFL Draft, according to several draft analysts. If they give up their senior years, Laurinaitis, cornerback Malcolm Jenkins and defensive end Vernon Gholston are seen as locks for the first round. Receiver Brian Robiskie and left tackle Alex Boone could have a shot at going in the first 32 picks.
"I think those top three are all potential top-half of the first round, top-15 kind of guys," Rang said. "Everyone wants to compare Laurinaitis to Urlacher, and that's almost putting too much pressure on the kid because Urlacher is such a freak. But Laurinaitis has rare football speed and the ability to play in coverage and all that. . . . I don't know if Laurinaitis can be quite that good, but it's really close."

NFL draft may take a bite out of junior Buckeye defenders

November 17, 2007
FREE PRESS NEWS SERVICES

COLUMBUS, Ohio ? After losing three players early to the NFL draft each of the last two years, Ohio State may be about to take another big hit.
Three juniors, all on defense, are currently listed by several draft analysts as being possible first-round picks next spring.
Only one of the three didn?t waver this week during preparations for Michigan when asked if he were contemplating making himself available for the draft. Cornerback Malcolm Jenkins said he was definitely staying.

?I love Ohio State,? he said. ?I?ll be here for a while.?

But even that was said in a dismissive way, batting away the question like he might one of Chad Henne?s passes.

Of the likely top 5 picks this year... Jets, Dolphins, Rams, niners and Raiders, Only one or two are likely to go for a skill position (QB, WR, RB) since they either already have decent play at that position or are working a prospect into playing time. all of them have greater need at other positions. The Pats get the Niners pick but they are much more likely than most to do for a defensive or OL player in top picks.

I could see Laurinaitis or Ghoulston or maybe an OT go to Miami as there are no premier receivers to replace Booker (who turns 100 next year), Rams pick an OT or DT, The Pats could pick Laurinaitis or maybe even trade the pick away for next year, the jets need help everywhere and the Raiders will pick take McFadden if he's still around.
