Ohio State players never have too much luck with the Bednarik Award.

But individual awards are never as important as team wins, and I imagine Laurinaitis would agree.

As a three-time All-American, he's still had a heck of a career regardless of being shutout of the national awards this season.

While I agree that team wins are ultimately more important than individual accolades, the mind-set of a typical 17-18 year old can easily be "if I go here, I will stand out in this position." Doesnt make em bad persons, they just have been on the high school scene as the superstar of their team, ready to be a superstar on the next level. So individual awards like this can win over some guys down the line.

Man, Jenkins getting this award is a true testiment to how a 3-star recruit with excellent work ethics can go on to greatness. Great job!

True about the Bednarik, but tOSU players have won more individual awards than players from any other school, so it's not a problem overall.

And JL can still be awarded the Lott on Sunday, as long as those who vote on it aren't swayed by Myron Rolle's Rhodes scholarship.
