Glad to see the ladies arent taking there foot off the collective jugular. What has happened to the killer instinct in Columbus? No one has it but these ladies at the moment. The mens basketball team appears to be finding one but overall we're seriously lacking the proper leadership. Keep it up ladies, you're the pride of the Buckeyes right now!

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Sophomore Sam Marder’s two-out single to right-centerfield in the bottom of the seventh inning scored senior Brittany Vanderink from second base to give the No. 21 Ohio State softball team a 2-1 win over Eastern Michigan Friday in the Buckeyes’ home opener.

Ohio State (20-6) has won its last six home openers at Buckeye Field and Friday marked the second time the Buckeyes have done so in walk-off fashion. Defending Mid-American Conference champion Eastern Michigan falls to 6-12.

COLUMBUS, Ohio – For the second time Friday and the 10th time this season, Ohio State sophomore Sam Marder drove in the game-winning runs as the 21st-ranked Buckeyes came from behind in the top of the seventh inning to beat Bowling Green, 3-2, at Buckeye Field.

The Buckeyes are now 21-6 overall this season and 8-1 when the game is decided in their last at bat. The remaining games of the Buckeye Invitational originally scheduled for Saturday and Sunday were cancelled Thursday, sending Ohio State into its Big Ten season at home next weekend with its best record since 2002.

Earlier Friday, Marder delivered a walk-off single to send Ohio State past Eastern Michigan, 2-1. In the nightcap against Bowling Green, the Buckeyes were down to their final strike, trailing BGSU 2-1 with two outs in the top of the seventh.

But unfortunately for Bowling Green, Ohio State had its best hitter at the plate and BGSU pitcher Hayley Wiemer chose to pitch to the Big Ten’s RBI leader and member of the USA Softball Preseason Player of the Year Watch List. On a 2-2 pitch, Marder sent Wiemer’s offering deep over the left-centerfield wall for her ninth home run of the season and the Buckeyes were on top, 3-2.

The ladies win both games yesterday to run record to 21-6 on the season. In both games, Sophomore C/1B Sam Marder drove in the winning runs, for the 9th and 10th times this season. There is a reason she's on the national Player of the Year watchlist.

The Lady Buckeyes have hit a rough stretch, going 2-4 against Iowa, Illinois and Marshall. Ohio State split the two game series with the Hawkeyes and the Illini, but got swept by Marshall. The Ladies head into the weekend with 4 games, 2 each vs Michigan State and Northwestern. They have some ground to make up. It is supposed to be nice, weather-wise in Columbus this week so come out and suppot our Softball Buckeyes.
