2008 Individual Award Watch Lists

Am I mistaken or do the Bucks have a major candidate for every major award. Laurinaitis, Jenkins, Boone, Wells, and if Boeckman has very good year it's not like the O'Brien is spoken for.

Don't forget about Robiskie for the Biletnikoff. There's no way he'll contend with Crabtree and his video game numbers til the end of the season, but I don't see how they could leave him off the watch list.

Also, with the quality of our kicking game, I'd be surprised if whoever starts for us at kicker didn't make a run at the Groza and Trappasso didn't make a run at the Ray Guy.

Last year Tim Tebow completed 234 of 350 passes for 3286 yards with a 66.9% completion percentage. He also averaged 9.39 yards per attempt while throwing for 32 touchdowns and only 6 interceptions. He was sacked only 13 teams (6 in the Georgia game) and had a QB rating of 172.47 (which was second in the Nation).

I see no reason why he should not pass for 4000+ yards and 40+ touchdowns.

I"m well aware of his stats from last year; and I admit how godly they may have been. I still don't see 4,000 yards coming though.

and 6 sacks against Georgia? - damn.

I'm not putting that much pressure on the guy, but I'll be shocked if he's not top five in rushing yards and TDs. He's a beast. I think he'll be at the Heisman presentation in person.

Hehe I'm not going to be upset if he doesn't do it. It's just at 1600 yards having to sit out sometimes due to pain and playing at 60%, at 100% should be a nice view.

Great too see all these names and honor's...

But Beanie still has the inside track to the big one

:osu:

No coincidence here at all.

Beanie's runs to the left (designed or cutback) are his bread-and-butter. His success to the left reminds me of Eddie...

Football: Trapasso On Ray Guy Award Watch List
Augusta, GA (June 12, 2008) - The Greater Augusta Sports Council announced today its pre-season watch list for the 2008 Ray Guy Award, which identifies the nation?s top collegiate punter. The pre-season list is comprised of the top non-graduating finalists from the previous year. The 2008 pre-season list is headed up by Cincinnati Bearcat punter Kevin Huber, who was a Ray Guy Award top-3 finalist last year.

Former Georgia Tech punter Durant Brooks won the award in 2007. Brooks was the only punter selected in the 2008 NFL draft, where he was taken in the sixth round by the Washington Redskins. He looks to follow the success of 2006 and 2004 winner Daniel Sepulveda (Baylor), who is making a name for himself with the Pittsburgh Steelers, and 2005 winner Ryan Plackemeier (Wake Forest) of the Seattle Seahawks.

The Ray Guy Award watch-list will be expanded after the start of the season. The list will be narrowed to ten semi-finalists in early-November. The national voting body will then vote for the top three finalists, who will be announced in late-November. The winner will be announced live during the ESPNU-Home Depot College Football awards show on December 11, 2008.

JIM THORPE AWARD NAMES 2008 PRE-SEASON 'WATCH LIST'

Oklahoma City --- The 2008 Jim Thorpe Award preseason 'watch list' announced today includes 40 of the nation?s best defensive backs as the leading candidates for this year's trophy, including Ohio State's Malcolm Jenkins, a 2007 semifinalist for the honor.

...

A 'Screening Committee' of Jim Thorpe Association members follows these players throughout the season, watching games and researching information sources to grade Thorpe Award candidates on the basis of performance on the field, athletic ability and character. The committee meets on the first Monday in November to narrow the field to 10 or 12 semi-finalists.

The committee meets again on the Monday before Thanksgiving to select the three finalists. The names of these finalists are submitted to a national panel of about 50 sports writers, sportscasters, coaches and former players who vote to determine the winner. The three finalists are invited to the ESPN College Football Awards Show, and the winner is announced during the show.
