THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

As Ohio State prepares for its home game Saturday night with Penn State, freshman quarterback Terrelle Pryor is much wiser to the college game than he was a week ago, quarterbacks coach Joe Daniels said. That's not just because Pryor played a major role in a 45-7 win Saturday at Michigan State, Daniels said. It's that he dealt with hearing at least one teammate express the desire to see senior Todd Boeckman regain some playing time as the offense struggled to find its way.
" 'Should Todd play? Shouldn't Todd play?' You think it doesn't affect a kid, but it does, because it affects the other people around him," Daniels said yesterday. "It affects the students (and) the average fan."
Coach Jim Tressel said after the Michigan State game that Pryor had told him Friday that if the offense stumbled the first few possessions, Boeckman should go in.

So the dirtbags that took Ballard's comments completely out of context and spread them around can take credit for "helping" TP grow up?

This would indicate that there was a "senoir leadership" at all! A direct contradiction to the fact that having these public comments and locker room whine fests leak out to the press (or worse still the field) means that the Sr's who should be stomping this out are not doing their jobs or are part of the problem.

These are the same writers who say things like:

- OSU Fans want Tressel fired

- the Buckeyes are a huge disappointment

- the Buckeyes are SLOW

- OSU fans are not hospitable to scUM fans.....

NO wait - that last one is true!
:oh:

Ohio State football: Are you ready for the Rose Bowl?

D.L.The Buckeyes should start preparing for another trip to California - and this guy will probably be there.

Whether Ohio State wins or loses against Penn State on Saturday night, barring any more upsets for either team, the Buckeyes are probably ticketed for Pasadena.
* If Ohio State wins: The Buckeyes would gain the inside track for the Big Ten title with only three games remaining against Northwestern, Illinois and Michigan. Ohio State might climb to No. 6 in the BCS standings on Sunday, but the Buckeyes would need a lot of help, including multiple Texas losses and a USC upset loss, to get back in the national title race. So the Big Ten champ would almost certainly wind up in its expected home, at the Rose Bowl.
Even if Ohio State loses once after beating Penn State, the Buckeyes would still head to the Rose Bowl as the conference champ because of the head-to-head win over Penn State.

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

Tired and dirty, sitting in the postgame locker room, Dick Brubaker and his Ohio State teammates sucked on oranges as the trainers cut tape from their ankles.
In the immediate distance, a group of adults stood on the periphery of the locker room, hands crossed, staring without making a sound.
"I remember saying, 'Who are those people?' It was like we were in a cage at the zoo," Brubaker recently recalled of that 1954 scene beneath Ohio Stadium.

OSU licks its wounds with bye week

By Rusty Miller
Associated Press

Monday, October 27, 2008
This is an off week for Ohio State. The Buckeyes can use the time off.
Beaten 13-6 by No. 3 Penn State on Saturday, Oct. 25, they looked worn down and a step slow on several big plays. After the game, they struggled to grasp why they lost and what they can change in their bye week.
"Six points should have been enough for us," LB James Laurinaitis said. "We were up 6-3 and we had to stop them."
He added, "We'll use this week to get healthy and to stay focused."
QB Terrelle Pryor lost two crucial turnovers in the fourth quarter, one on a fumble with 10:38 remaining that led to the only touchdown and another in the closing seconds.

Buckeyes have case of touchdownitis
By MATT MARKEY
BLADE SPORTS WRITER
COLUMBUS - The patient walks into the examination room, but before the doctor puts on his stethoscope or checks reflexes, he wants some background - a little history on what has ailed this individual in the past. As the Ohio State football team moves into its only off week of the season, its checkup will reveal an irregular heart rate. Sometimes the Buckeyes function at a robust and brisk pace, while other times, they are listless and sluggish. These periods of lethargy have been accompanied by similar symptoms - an inability to run the ball, an outbreak of turnovers, with no touchdowns detected. There are also infrequent leg twitches, which result in three-point blips on the scoreboard - not the desired result. In its two losses this season, Ohio State (7-2) has scored a total of nine points, with no touchdowns. In its seven victories, Ohio State has 212 points -
better than 30 per game - with 24 touchdowns. There have been 11 Ohio State turnovers in those nine games, but five of them have come in just two games - the losses. In those two defeats at Southern California (35-3) and Saturday night at home against Penn State (13-6), the Buckeyes have 132 total rushing yards - 66 per game. In the seven wins, the Buckeyes have 1,386 yards rushing - a hair under 200 per game.

He who lives on field goals and punts is destined to get kicked. Yet there is still the faint smell of Rose in the air.
In the BCS

The top three in the Bowl Championship Series rankings didn't change, with Texas followed by Alabama and Penn State. If Ohio State fans want to see their team somewhere other than Florida on New Year's Day, they need to become Penn State fans and root against Texas and/or Alabama. Because if Penn State makes the national title game, there's a chance the Buckeyes -- if they win out and finish in the top 14 of the BCS -- could gain an at-large invitation to the Rose Bowl, which likes maintaining its traditional Pacific 10-Big Ten ties.
