The Carolina Panthers have been considering upgrading their safety position for quite some time. Coming into today, Marcus had slipped in the minds of some scouts following the Scouting Combine as his 40 times were sub-par, but he recorded much better times at this Pro Day. Marcus is not the special teams ace that his brother Michael is, but he is a similar player in respect to the safety position, which makes him an excellent value pick in the 3rd round.

Earl first caught my eye early in the 2006 season and has continued to progress over the duration of his collegiate career. Bennett is one of the more NFL ready receivers in the group, but questions about his athleticism (after a mediocre 4.52 40) caused him to slide to Day 2 in this draft. Excellent route runner and explodes out of his breaks, making him an excellent weapon in the intermediate passing game. May lack the vertical speed and physicality to be a true impact WR at the next level.
