COLUMBUS - Libbey's William Buford shares Division II player of the year honors with fellow Ohio State recruit B.J. Mullens of Canal Winchester, and the future Buckeyes are on the first unit of the Associated Press All-Ohio boys basketball team announced last night. Buford, a 6-5 senior, averaged 22.9 points per game for the Cowboys, who play St. Paris Graham Thursday in a state semifinal at Value City Arena. Mullens, a 7-1 senior, averaged 26.2 points per game. Buford is a repeat All-Ohio first-teamer as he made the D-I squad last season. He owns Libbey's career scoring record with 2,009 points - second in City League history to Macomber's Jim Jackson who scored 2,328 points.

Two Ohio State recruits, 7-foot-1 center B.J. Mullens of Canal Winchester and 6-5 swingman William Buford of state tournament-bound Toledo Libbey, have been named boys basketball co-players of the year in Division II by the Associated Press. Mullens averaged 27.6 points and 14.2 rebounds and shot 72 percent from the field in leading Canal Winchester to a regional semifinal. Buford averaged 18.2 points, 11.7 rebounds and 5.6 assists.
