I'll be rooting for 'Juno' in Best Picture, Ellen Page for Best Actress, Daniel Day-Lewis for Best Actor and Hoffman for Best Supporting Actor.

I was a big fan of Michael Clayton and Juno, I hope they both do well. I haven't seen a couple of the other major movies on the lists (mainly No Country for Old Men and Atonement), so I can't really say who I think should win.

No Country for Old Men for best picture, Daniel Day-Lewis for best actor, Ellen Page for best actress, Casey Affleck for best supporting actor, Coens for best director(s), Diablo Cody for best original screenplay.

4 Months, 3 Weeks, and 2 Days didn't get a best foreign film nomination? :shake:

No Country for Old Men was brutal in the best way.....the scene where he kills the deputy with the handcuffs was unreal...just his expression made me feel uncomfortable

Javier Bardem, "No Country for Old Men" hands down the best performance I have seen....CALL IT FRIENDO

Johnny Depp was really good in Sweeney Todd

Daniel Day Lewis was SOULESS in TWBB...

Philip Seymour Hoffman is such a great actor. Sucker steals movies away from stars.

"Dude, I just sharted!", "Let it rain!!", "You douchebags bring your A game... Just messin' with ya Sasquach.", "Oh my God Im so F-ing horny!"

I know hes done some more serious films, but he was AWESOME in Along came Polly!!

Juno is not worthy of Best Picture consideration. Very cute film, and the parents (J.K. Simmons and Allison Janney) put forth exemplary performances--but it's not on par with No Country, Atonement or There Will Be Blood. Unfortunately, I haven't seen any of the other lead actress performances, so I'm unable to speak intelligently as to Page's viability, though I'm skeptical anyway. Can't say I'm shocked, as Juno's hype train has been chugging along for months now, but perhaps this will lend some credibility to my criticism (if you can call it that):

From IMDb, voting results for Juno:

    ------------------------Votes----Average

    Females aged 18-29-----5,213------9.0

    Top 1000 voters---------161-------6.2

Keeping in mind, of course, that while the Top 1000 voters are not without bias, they are not insipid fangirls who fall in love uber-hip dialogue or incessant neo-feminist shit-talking. They typically rate movies lower than the site average (their rating for No Country is 7.8, for example, compared to 8.7 overall), but the disparity with Juno (6.2 to 8.4) says it all, in my opinion.

Once again, adorable little movie, and a hell of an achievement for young Reitman, but not even my favorite of his. Thank You for Smoking is equally clean and fun to watch, and it actually says something meaningful. You know--other than "home slice" and "honest to blog" or whatever the fuck.

Wouldn't mind seeing Cody (the former exotic dancer) win for writing the thing, though. Wouldn't mind at all.
