Basically because they don't think that the offense will measure up against the play of these teams. That in a nutshell is what will determine the season for the Bucks. Who will step up and who will carry our fortunes on our back. Will Boeckman do the job? If he doesn't and we have unstability at the QB position that would hurt our chances immensely. We need to have one QB that performs consistantly.
The O line has to grow quickly into a cohesive unit. If this doesn't happen we would be in big trouble. I don't foresee that, we have more than enough to do the job.
The WR's should be more than sufficient to do the job. all they have to do is progress.
We have the RBs we need.
All we need is for the team to click to be successful.

What Will Happen
- Wisconsin will get out to a 9-0 start before losing to Ohio State in Columbus. The Badgers will bounce back to hand Michigan its first defeat of the year before beating Minnesota in the season-finale to go 11-1 and off to the Rose Bowl. Michigan will also finish 11-1 (helped by a win over Ohio State).
- Ohio State will start out hot thanks to its defense, and then will suffer a collapse at Purdue in a shootout. Losses at Penn State and Michigan will make Jim Tressel?s team an also-ran (but it?ll bounce back in a big way in 2008).

CFN's Calvacade of Whimsy:

3) Michigan will start out 10-0, Wisconsin will start out 9-0, and Ohio State will start out 11-0.
I really like this year?s Penn State team, and it could be a fly in the ointment for Ohio State on October 27th and Wisconsin on October 15th, but I?m making the call that the Buckeyes and Badgers will both be unbeaten when they meet in Columbus on November 3rd. Ohio State will win, will beat Illinois, and will be ranked No. 2 in the nation before losing to Michigan

Yay for hypothetical match-ups to gain more site traffic! :p They have Boston College beating scUM too... if they did play this year scUM wins that game 9 out of 10 times.

Interesting stat from the Dispatch:

History shows there has been relatively little drop-off in OSU's records with a new starter at the helm. But there is a strong correlation to the record and having an effective run game.

In those 11 prior seasons with a new quarterback, every time the Buckeyes had a 1,000-yard back, the record was as good as or better than the previous year. Six out of the seven seasons the team averaged more than 175 yards rushing, the record was as good as or better.

Sounds like a good thing to track, but I'm not sure how valid it is this year.

How many of those years did "as good or better" mean that you can't lose more than one game? That's the standard this year.

As for the 175 yards per game; that requires us to gain 2275 yards over the 13 game season. The first 8 defenses we face are so baby-soft that we may be damn close to 2275 before we head to Happy Valley.

Losing more than one of the last 4 games is entirely possible this year. And that's all that's necessary to buck this trend. I seriously hope that the trend holds though, because I'd bet all of my massive vWealth that 2275 rushing yards are in the bag this year.
