When the subject is college baseball, critics jump all over the Big Ten for what it is not. The conference hasn't had a team reach the College World Series since Michigan in 1983 and hasn't had a national champion since Ohio State in 1966.

Tony Kennedy's sacrifice fly in the eighth inning scored Justin Miller with the go-ahead run and Ohio State held on to beat host Penn State 3-2 in its Big Ten baseball regular-season finale yesterday in State College, Pa. The win gave Ohio State the final spot in the Big Ten tournament, which starts Wednesday at Ann Arbor, Mich. The Buckeyes (33-22, 15-15) needed one win against Penn State in their four-game series but lost the first three games Friday and Saturday.
