The pick of Peterson to the Texans would be an IDEALLY AWESOME pick for them. But this is the same franchise that passed on Reggie Bush and Vince Young... so it's almost guaranteed they waste their pick on a punter or something.

They do have Domanick Davis/Williams coming back off of IR next year at RB.

Don't know what they are expecting out of him but he was a pretty damn good back, especially out of the backfield as a pass catcher.

No, most expected them to draft Michael Huff but it wasn't out of the realm as you seemed to insinutate.

BTW, would you rather they trade down or take a QB?

I see both sides.

There won't be many good FA QB's to choose from so I see them drafting one but they also need so much offensive help that it would be beneficial to trade down and stockpile picks.

Tough decision this year.
Trade down. They could draft Peyton Manning this year and they would still suck. Gotta start stockpiling those picks.

Or maybe trade the #1 for a coach :2004:

When the sentence starts "Is Al Davis smart enough..." the answer is usually no. I don't think many teams could work a trade down from the #1 in this draft......Al Davis certainly can't.

I don't expect to see them get any better until he's gone, which is why I'd be OK with drafting Brady Quinn #1 and ruining his pro career

Is anyone dumb enough to trade up? There's no super stud pick, but alot of very good players that will be in the top 10-15 picks. Unless you have a boner for someone, you're going to get a very good player in that area.

Qb's drafted in the last 15-20 years by the Raiders:
Walter 3rd rd
Curry 7th
Tuiasosopo 2nd
Billy f'n Joe Hobert 3rd
Marinuanavich 1st
Major Harris 12th
Jeff Francis 6th
Steve Buerlein 4th
Rusty Hilger 6th
Marc Wilson 1st

You can see why they shy away from drafting qb's. Of the 2 best, one is a wr and the other was only good when he played on other teams.

I would maybe trade up to get Calvin Johnson and I'm as anti-WR for the top pick as anyone.

Well, I hope someone get's a woody for Calvin. I think he may be underrated, if that's possible. He had the misfortune to play with one of the worst qb's in major college football. With a good qb, he could be a beast.

I agree.

Worst starting QB since Stanley Jackson.
