2007 Buckeye Road Games

Could be a good thing if the Minny and Purdue games get bumped up the ESPN's Saturday night game instead of being a regional game on ABC. More national exposure is a good thing for the program. Hopefully we killed the "big ten road game at night curse" last year. I'd be interested to know who made the PSU game a night kickoff, seems like the kitties are trying to get any edge they can to pull off the win. You'll NEVER see OSU fans or the university trying to schedule PSU for a night game, lol. We save those for big games like WSU in their ten win season or Texas in 2005.

I like us to save them for big games... like Texas 05 the atmosphere was great... I'm sure USC will be a night game.
Exactly. Save it for very special occasions. Makes them that much more enjoyable. I'm still somewhat miffed that they moved the game from noon...

Once again, I'm not under the impression he's saying we need more national exposure. I think he's just speaking in general terms. The more positive exposure the better, especially for recruiting. Who wouldn't want every tOSU game nationally televised? I should probably let O'Rourke speak for himself tho.

I agree on that, the Buckeyes are one of the top 5 nationally recognized Football programs. Conversely, with the 12 game schedule and the Div-1AA or MAC games that entails you need at least one strong OOC, or your SOS is SOL. Point being the higher profile OOC game will, with the Buckeyes as part of the billing, always be a target for night game status.

We should not, I believe, be playing as many Big Ten night games. (Though that is as much a question of preference for tradition and decorum as for any other reason).

From an outside Ohio pov, I'm ok with it from the exposure angle.

Yes, we are on TV every saturday but if you don't pay the extra money you would never see them that much down here. You want to stay in the forefront of the collective CFB mind let them see you in prime time as much as possible.

Makes the games more difficult but Minny and Purdue are teams we should beat anytime, anywhere. PSU, lets just make their visits to Cbus at night a few times.

A lot of the SEC "sex appeal" comes from people always seeing them at night on ESPN. We should get ourselves as much of that as we can imo.

I like the idea of paying back the Nits with some night games in the Shoe!
They know they have been down and need the exposure and any edge they can get.
I think 3 night games is way over kill and just makes things a lot tougher than they have to be.
Bottom line; Why help someone pull an "upset" in prime time on national tv?

I'm not saying that our program is starved for media attention. I'm saying that national exposure is a good thing as far as recruiting kids outside our regional coverage and influencing the washed up has-beens and never-weres in the Harris Poll, which is 1/3 of the BCS formula in the screwed up system we play under. You guys act like I'm saying we need more TV time to be relevant, that's not what I'm saying at all. I'm just saying it doesn't hurt us to be the team on TV every week, just look at Notre Dame. They haven't done shit in the last 10-15 years and yet they're still a nationally relevant program who can go out and recruit kids in CA, FL etc...

A wise man once said, "The only thing worse than being talked about, is not being talked about."

i believe our nationally televised games are always night games simply so the west coast can see them later in the day as opposed to the crack of dawn or around noon. other than that i don't really care. we have a lot of 4:30 games which eventually turn into night games anyways. I am happy with whatever they decide though.

I don't like night games at Ohio Stadium. I know that people say that it increases the atmosphere, but I'm not sure that it improves the atmosphere. The alcohol element is the main reason that I don't like it. People still start tailgating at 6 a.m., regardless of kickoff time. A night game just gives people between 5-8 hours more time to get completely fucked up. Ohio State, Wisconsin, Penn State, Michigan and Iowa have all had bigger issues with violence at night games as opposed to day games. The reports of this are usually just written off as the pussy visiting team fans overreacting, even though it's actually home team fan apologists making excuses. I like that Ohio State doesn't usually go for the gimmick night game atmosphere.
