So many articles are discussing the group as a whole...here is a single thread to discuss a very deep unit.

In Kiper's Premium chat today, he said that the new NFL rules limiting contact with WRs help out WRs like Ginn and Gonzo. He feels that both will go very early in the draft if they choose to leave.

I'd personally be surprised if Gonzales stays. I don't know if his stock would be improved by staying honestly. Now as a Buckeyes fan I want him back, but it's kind of like Vince Young last year. If he stays, he may not be on the tipe of everyone's tongue next year like he is starting to be this year.

As for Ginn, sometimes I think he may just stay, simply to get the recognition that Gonzo is getting as a Wide Receiver.

Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised to see both Ginn and Gonzo leave. I wouldn't blame them if they chose to do so. They are playing with the most efficient passer that the Big Ten has ever seen. Next year there will be some initial growing pains breaking in a new QB. I'd love to see both stick around, but I think Ginn is all but gone......as for Gonzo, who knows? His stock is rising very quickly.

Probably....I'm just being overly-optimistic...

If they get past @Washington next year early, they'll be undefeated going to Penn State with that new QB.

Keep in mind that Gonzo is a RS junior, so he wouldn't be leaving "early" if he declared after the bowl game. If he and Ginn both left, we'd still have:

Robiskie
Hartline
Small
Dukes
Lyons
Lukens

With Sanzenbacher and Washington--as a minimum--coming in next season, we're set.

Even if Ginn and Gonzo both go Pro (I would be surprised if Gonzo did, I wouldn't be surprised if Ginn goes or stays) we'd still have a helluva trio with Hartline, Robiskie, and Small- not to mention guys like Dukes and Lyons that could have a break out year once they get out from behind Ginn and Gonzo.

edit: what Mili said.

Let's assume Ginn & Gonzo go pro.

SE - Robiskie, Lyons
FL - Hartline, Dukes
SL - Small

Redshirt: Washington, Sanzenbacher

Wildcard: Saine (I think he's a versatile RB until proven otherwise), Clifford (I hope he stays at safety)

Small showed good promise out of the Shot-Ginn position (rename to Ray-Gun? :p).

Can you clarify what he means by this?

I might have thought there was a chance of Ted coming back, but he and Troy are tight, and what a blast it will be for them to go through the get-an-agent/workout-for-scouts/NFL-draft thing together.

If this season ends with a National Championship, I can easily see both Ginn and Gonzo leaving.

Gonzo I used to think wouldn't leave because he just seems like the type of guy that lives the Tressel motto and would finish out his full term, but I guess since he is a RS, he really wouldn't be leaving his schooling early. And with how much he has improved, he'll go high

Ginn could go either way. Him being so close with Troy and an explosive player, I'd venture he'd go. But he could easily use another year to get bigger. I can't see him playing a WR in the NFL at his size.

How the rest of the season goes will really determine it all IMO. Either way we've got a lot of depth, so I'm not worried.

Bump & Run coverage is not what it used to be...downfield contact is severely limited and easily flagged.
Thanks, I took that to mean how much contact scouts can have with draft-declaree's...

I can't imagine Gonzo staying next year. He's having an All America type year, he's a fixture in ESPN highlights, and he's getting these opportunities because he's got a Heisman candidate throwing him catchable passes and another Heisman candidate drawing all the attention on the other side.

Gonzo could not put up better numbers next season, and it wouldn't be his fault at all. No Smith. No Zwick. No Ginn. Probably no Pittman. Datish and Downing would be gone too.

Take the money and run, Gonzo.

Gonzo and Ginn are more then likely gone after this season. I don't see them sticking around trying to get used to a new QB, and after this season i don't think their stock would rise anymore if they stayed. Also keep in mind that we are not light at the WR spot. Somehow over the past few seasons OSU has amassed one of the best WR groups in the country. Any guy 1-6 could be starting and all can make the big play.

I look for Robiskie, Hartline to be the 1-2 punch next year with Small being the next 'Ginn' type player.

FWIW, even if we do lose the "Killer G's", I'd be willing to bet that Small is going to burst onto the scene in a huge way.......in the same fashion that Holmes did in his sophomore season. Robiskie and Hartline are also two possible All-Big ten caliber players.........especially Robiskie. The more I see of him, the more I think he could be a first round draft pick down the road.
