We were in attendance for the first Senior Advanced Camp at the WHAC. It was a busy day with the state track meet and a few high school graduations at the Schott. We arrived at 9 am, while the athlets were weighing in and testing in the vertical jump, broad jump, and bench press. Tressel gave a short speech and introduction to all of the coaches (no Bollman, though he is expected to recover fully in a few weeks). The players then were grouped by position and tested in the 40 and shuttle. Next were position workouts, where the respective coaches ran drills and gave instruction to the campers. No more photos were taken after lunch due to equipment malfunction. After catching lunch at the Eddie George grille, we had a nice chat with the Trotwood coaches about Peake and his chances for an offer, as well as some upcoming players in the '08 class (ie Brandon Moore). We arrived early, and checked out the trophy room and threw an osu ball around on the main WHAC field (we were not extended offers, though almost no one was around to notice our talent). When the kids returned from lunch, they went through the county fair (series of individual drills) and then outside for 1v1's, however we had left during the county fair drills.
Notable Players:
Nick Claytor - He was the only guy there that already has an offer in hand. He looked like an absolute monster. He is every bit of of 6'6'' 319 frame that he weighed in as. He also showed a good vertical leap and broad jump. Very athletic for his size. During individual drills he and Shepsis were hitting it off and he was getting a lot of tutelage from the o-line coaches. They even stepped in and were holding the blocking pads while Nick was blocking them. Then in the county fair drills, they were doing the ring drill where they run around the rings in a figure 8 and have guys chase them. He looked athletic running around them, but it was a little unfair because he had Shepsi chasing him. He kept telling Nick that he was too fast for him. We also had a little chat with a cousin of his who says that he really wants Nick to attend tOSU and even had a jersey on. Overall it seems that Nick likes it up here and his family from Toledo is really pushing tOSU, but I think we may be fighting an uphill battle because I don't think he wants to leave his family in Georgia.
CJ Peake - I am really set on him receiving that offer now. He is a freak athletically. He clocked in the 40 with times of 4.47 and 4.48 and he was not getting a good start, but you could see his extra burst of speed that he had over all the rest of the kids there. During the DB drills, I think it was obvious that he is going to be a linebacker. He doesn't have lateral movement and agility that a safety needs to play here, but put about 30 lbs on him and he is going to be a stud at outside backer. Talked with a couple people that also thought that he will end up at linebacker. He tweaked his ankle a little bit after lunch so he sat out for the rest of the day. Overall I was really impressed.
Nick Shepsis - What a suprise he was. I think he was the most technically sound lineman at the camp. He has extremely quick feet, and his base was about as perfect as they came. You could tell that the o-line coaches were impressed with him. LIke I mentioned above him and Claytor really hit it off and were laughing and joking all day long. I really think that he could leave with an offer. He looked about 6'4' 280. I think the chances of him getting an offer in the coming month are about 60-70%.
Zebrie Sanders - Zebrie was the other olineman that really stood out. He is an 08' recruit from Northmont, which is a school that is very pro tOSU. He was about 6'6 260, with no fat and a frame to handle plenty of weight, with very good feet for a big guy. I see an early offer next year.
Dom DeCicco - PA db, that was pretty impressive. I don't think that he is tOSU material, but should find a home at a school like a Pitt or a middle-tier big ten team. He had excellent hops, but lacked ideal speed/hips to receive an offer.
Zach Furlong - Zach is a really well put together kid. He worked out with the wr's today. He clocked in at 4.57 40. He is a definite sleeper prospect, but is probably a longshot for an offer.
Vincent Browne - Browne is an very solid athlete. The question with him is will he be able to add weight. He worked out with the lb's today, but I just don't see him there. Think he might be a step or two too slow. Some people think that he could be an ol or dt, but he would have a lot of weight to add, and I just don't see it happening. IMO he will end up as a DE, and will be a stud, but IMO we just don't have the room for him, but I think he will get some very nice offers, and end up at pretty good d-I school.
Mark Wetterer & Marcus O'Hara - These guys are massive, but lacked the ideal footwork and athleticism for tOSU. I could see them ending up at Indiana or Illinois.
Cody Endres - Tall and slender, he was the most impressive qb at the camp. He consistently threw a good ball, I could see him doing well at a MAC school. The QB field was down overall from last year.
Jafe Pitcock - Looks like Quinn's twin in a fullback's frame. He showed good speed and athleticism, and excellent intensity throughout the day. He lacks ideal size, but is fast off of the edge. Half of the MAC has already come calling.
Ishmaa'ily Kitchen - He is a load at 310 lbs, yet moves very well for his size. Wisconsin and Pitt have been in his ear, and I would not be surprised to see him contribute at either school.
Marcus English - Showed good athleticism, apparently being recruited by Michigan at corner.
Some other guys of note were George Tabron, Sean Baker, Cory Pigg, and Joey D'Andrea.

OSU FB Sightings: Ross Homan, Austin Spitler, and Troy Smith are noticeably stronger/larger. Also ran into Downing in the hallway, but it's hard for him to look any stronger.
