PATRICK WILLIS
LB, Mississippi Comment: "Patrick is not only a talented athlete, but he also has a unique inner desire to be a great football player." -- COACH Ed Orgeron

How is Leon Hall a finalist? He is the product of very good front 7, I think he's good.........but he's not the best corner in the country (or even by Big 10) by any means. He has 3 interceptions and leads the Big 10 with 15 passes broken up. What does that tell you? It tells me that teams aren't afraid to throw the ball at him, or possibly that QB's are forced into making bad throws in his direction because they are under so much pressure from the defensive line.

Hell, Laurinaitis has 5 picks and he's a linebacker. People can't make the "Well, Leon is so good that teams don't throw the ball at him" excuse........because that theory is thrown out the window by the simple fact that he leads the Big Ten in pass breakups.

Hall is a product of the system. Antonio Smith is probably having a better season than Hall, but unfortunately he lacks the "name".

I think that is a tough argument to make, Hall has been hailed as one of the CBs in the nation since preseason. And has performed well despite being challenged quite a bit

The fact that they throw at him might be explained by him covering the oppositions best receiver. just a guess.

But I agree with you, in that I think Woodley or Branch would be a better selection from scUM. The Dline is clearly the strength of their team, and the thing that stands out about their D as a whole is their rush dfense
