Eddie George was arguably the greatest running back in the history of Ohio State football. At BP, we have named our Best Running Back Award for the 1995 Heisman Trophy winner. After a very close race, the winner of the 2006 George Award is Arkansas's Darren McFadden, who rushed for 1,558 yards and 14 touchdowns for the Razorbacks. Congratulations, Darren, for earning the second annual George Award!

The top finishers are set forth below, with number of first place votes in parentheses:

Darren McFadden (Arkansas) - 161 (17)
Steve Slaton (West Virginia) - 148 (7)
Mike Hart (Michigan) - 148 (5)
Garrett Wolfe (Northern Illinois) - 85 (6)
Ray Rice (Rutgers) - 78
Ian Johnson (Boise State) - 70
Antonio Pittman (Ohio State) - 44
Adrian Peterson (Oklahoma) - 41 (4)
P.J. Hill (Wisconsin) - 23
Marshawn Lynch (Cal) - 13

Last year's results

He's not a first round pick this year. I bet he does and next year he'll be one of the top RB in the country. Is there some financial concerns or anything, any reason to propell him if he is not a first round pick?

A) I have talked with people in the know and they say he is gone. Not a done deal but a Buckeye NC will make it tough for him to turn down the league.

B) Who is going ahead of him this year at RB? Adrian Peterson? Marshawn Lynch? Michael Bush? Next year you potentially have Steve Slaton, Mike Hart, Darren McFadden, Ray Rice, Jamaal Charles, Ian Johnson, Snoop Stewart, etc. Not saying Pitt won't go higher than some of those guys, but this year is an especially weak RB class. Another year means another year's worth of potential injuries.

AP will, and I wouldn't be surprised to see 2-3 of the other guys you listed leave early. All of them have good potential to go ahead of Pittman *this year*. If he left next year, I think he'd jump all of those guys -- but right now he's kind of in the back of the line.
Still, I think you're right that he will leave this year. Especially if we bring the hardware home. I think he should stay -- but that is obviously a moot point and I wish him the best of luck regardless of his choice.
