you guys actually throw them away if they're bad games? you know that's like $200 at least for a pair on eBay right? or you could donate them to BP for a fund raiser.

I don't see any OSU-Indiana tickets fetching $200 anytime soon, on eBay or otherwise. By the time the tickets are actually mailed they'll be on sale for face value from OSU, and scalpers will be ditching them for 10 bucks. Why would I tie my money up for 5 months for something that I could get much cheaper near gametime? Not to mention the fact that the seat location will be horrible.

O.K., so back in May I get my Alumni Tix application stating that I can purchase 2 tickets to the Penn State game...I send in my check.

Today I recieve a letter from the Ticket Office. What to think? Did I hit the lottery jackpot and get switched out for Michigan!?!

...no, "Due to overwhelming demand for Penn State, Bowling Green & Indiana games, we are unable to fill all requests recieved...This letter is to notify you that you alumni football ticket request has been changed to Northern Illinois..."

What a frickin kick to the nuts! :grr:

This happen to anyone else?

P.S.

This happens every year, and I am sure they are really overbooked on the PSU game after last year. That's the game I was supposed to get...I'm waiting for my letter saying I didn't.

As for the other games, they always send out way more applications than they expect to get back, and with OSU haveing a good shot at the NC this year, demand will be ginormic (OK, that's not a real word, but)...so Indiana didn't generate the interest on its own, but rather all the people just wanted tickets to whatever game they got this year more than in some years past.

I'm a recent grad, and this is my first year applying for the alumni tix (Minnesota). Assuming they were able to fill the ticket request, when should I expect to receive word that they were able to get the tickets? (I did notice that my check went through... although I'm not sure if that really means anything). The reason I ask is because I'd like to know if and when to book plane tickets. Thanks.

Yeah, many of us want to know that too. The ticket office said "a couple weeks before the game" which doesn't leave a hell of a lot of time to plan.

Excerpt from today's Cleveland Plain Dealer article:

More than 31,000 Ohio State students have signed up for football tickets this season, an increase of 6,000 over last year, according to OSU senior director of ticketing Bob Jones. At a cost of $29 per game, every student who requests season tickets before a summer deadline is granted seats, so Jones and his staff have been shuffling some other patrons to accommodate them.

According to Jones, some staff and faculty tickets have been cut to handle the load, but he said no alumni previously granted seats have been shut out. Some alumni given tickets to a single game have been moved from prime dates such as those against Michigan and Penn State to the two early-season home games against Northern Illinois and Cincinnati when classes haven't started and the student season tickets packages aren't yet in effect.

Jones attributed the increase in student requests to the presence of Penn State and Michigan on the home schedule and the possibility of the Buckeyes entering the season ranked first in the country.

I recall in 1998 a near-riot because instead of accomodating the students, I believe freshmen only got one game. Personally, even though I might get hosed as an alumnus, I'm glad they learned their lesson. The stadium should be for the students first and foremost.
