Getting a few starters in early foul trouble might have been the best thing for Kansas.
The Jayhawks shocked Boston College yesterday by switching to an uncharacteristic 3-2 zone defense, triggering a 24-4 firsthalf run on the way to a victory in Lawrence, Kan.
The Jayhawks, who almost always play man-to-man defense, led 21-19 when the surge began. Soon after, Brandon Rush came off the bench despite two fouls, the defense made the switch and Kansas got its running game in high gear. After a three-point basket by Mario Chalmers and Darnell Jackson?s jam ended the run, the Jayhawks (10-2) were on top 45-23 at halftime.
