2006-07 Men's Basketball Coaches and AP Polls

NEED A GOOD WIN

I agree with the Wisky fan in that we need a really good win. Our games against Wisky and NC, while both losses, I don't feel hurt as much, if at all. But the loss to Florida was bad. And yes, I know it was without Oden but he only plays 20 minutes a game, anyway.

So, beating Wisconsin will be big this week.

My other point is I will trade late-season wins for holiday tournament wins anytime.

If I were the Florida coach, I wouldn't even be that distressed about the loss to Vandy. Probably just the wake up call they needed.

Finally, all the Bucks have to do is to win the next 9 or 10 games by a single point and I'll be a happy camper!! (2 reg season, 2 B10 tourn., and 6 in the NCAA's????!!)

The Minnesota game was great... no late-game slide, Ivan Harris shot well, Oden is getting pissed off.... all good timing.

I only hope we get to put some revenge on the Gators.

Go Bucks!

there will be an interesting predicament if florida loses to kentucky tonight. ohio state is now effectively second in both polls, considering ucla's loss to wvu. if ohio state were to overtake florida after a gator loss, ohio state would be ranked first; with the second, third, and fourth-ranked teams all having beaten ohio state.
well, we now have that peculiar situation; although, the situation isn't exactly as was considered and obviously not a result of those particular games. nonetheless, i'd be very surprised if there has ever been team ranked #1 that has lost to the #2, #3, and #5 teams.

I know in some corners there has been gnashing of teeth and wailing over the inconsistency of play. I am thrilled that this team hasn't peaked too early. This team is growing, sometimes its hard to see. Winning games in February gets you what? I was talking to an Iowa fan today and told him the best thing the also-rans in the Big 10 having going for them is that the conference tournament holds little interest for tOSU and Whisky. Those two want the NC so one of the middle pack teams may win the Conference tournament and get that bid.

Ummmm Oden played in the Florida and Wisconsin games. I don't know what you are talking about here.

I think the fact we lost to Florida by 30 tends to overshadow the fact we were in that game up until about mid way through the second half and the Oden we saw in that game is not the Oden we are seeing now.....the team has grown. Lets not forget that the game against wisky will be the first top 5 match-up we get to play at home.

Regardless, the ranking doesn't mean that much in long run......if we beat wisky and win the Big Ten, plus win at least one game in the Big 10 tourney we will be a #1 seed. Just my opinion.

Rankings add luster to OSU-Wisconsin tilt

Buckeyes No. 1 in coaches' poll; Badgers take top spot in AP ratings.

It'll be No. 1 vs. No. 2, no matter how you slice it.
The 4 p.m. Sunday men's college basketball showdown between Big Ten co-leaders Ohio State and Wisconsin features two No. 1 teams. And two No. 2s.
Ohio State (24-3, 12-1) on Monday was voted the top team in the coaches' poll while Wisconsin (26-2, 12-1) sits atop The Associated Press rankings.
The polls, that is obviously for the fans," Ohio State coach Thad Matta said during Monday's Big Ten teleconference. "I think when it all comes down, it's good for people to talk about at the coffee table, but we've got to go out and play."

OSU faces off with Badgers
Tuesday, February 20, 2007
By RALPH D. RUSSO
AP Sports Writer

Get ready for another 1 vs. 2 showdown in the Big Ten ? this time on the hardwood.

Wisconsin was the new No. 1 in The Associated Press Top 25 poll on Monday, and Big Ten rival Ohio State was not far behind at No. 2.

The Badgers (26-2, 12-1), on top of the poll for the first time in school history, play the Buckeyes (24-3, 12-1) on Sunday ? just a bit more than three months after Ohio State and Michigan played a much-hyped 1 vs. 2 football game at Ohio Stadium.

OHIO STATE MEN?S BASKETBALL
Buckeyes, Badgers can each claim No. 1

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

The media and coaches could not agree on the No. 1 team in men?s college basketball, so the top two teams could decide it for them.
Ohio State regained the No. 1 spot in the USA Today/ESPN coaches poll yesterday but remained No. 2 in the Associated Press media poll, where Wisconsin leapfrogged the Buckeyes to No. 1. Barring an upset or two before they face off, the Buckeyes and Badgers will settle the issue of who?s No. 1 when they meet Sunday in Value City Arena.

OSU fans shouldn?t fret about latest poll rankings

BOB HUNTER

The last time I voted in the Associated Press college basketball poll, my sleep was interrupted at 12:15 a.m. by a reluctant AP staffer. He said he was sorry for the call but he had been instructed to ask me to change my vote to reflect No. 22 Texas A &M?s loss to Nebraska late the previous afternoon.
"Texas A &M lost to Nebraska?" I remember saying, trying not to gasp too loudly. "You?re kidding me. That?s absolutely shocking. Say, my good fellow, what time is it, anyway? "

Exactally I don't put alot of stock in that loss, UF played as well as they could have in that second half shooting about 70% and at that point Hunter wasnt playing much and Oden almost dies.

I agree on the #1 seed...

My opinion is that if we beat Wisconsin, whoever goes further in the conference tourney should have the 1 seed. If we lose to Wisconsin, I don't care if we win the Big Ten tourney beating Wisconsin, I don't think we'll deserve the #1 seed.

who cares?

at this point three games and then two tournaments in which a loss and your out. this team needs to worry about winning. no matter where they end they need 8 wins to make it count...

though personally id like to see them get fucked over real good and get like a 3 seed, piss these kids off. let them play with a little fire, im not saying they need to play with the piss ass poor prove the world wrong fab five tude, but a burr up their asses might just be what dr. otis would order...
