2005 Official/Unofficial Visit List

Updated the thread with additional Basketball recruits.

Why is the trend to bring in more BB recruits than FB recruits?

I don't get that?

For some reason Peterson's/Recruiting Coordinator has a tactic of bringing in a smaller group of players for official visits than when Conley was at tOSU.
Don't know if that strategy is working?????

New Article on Rivals

Interesting tidbits.

The highest-ranked blue-chip prospect scheduled to be in Columbus this weekend is five-star athlete Jamar Hornsby of Jacksonville (Fla.) Sandalwood.

Los Angeles Dorsey four-star linebacker Mark Johnson was scheduled to be in Columbus this weekend, but had been having some trouble hooking up with his recruiting coach, Luke Fickell, to confirm the visit.

"I'm definitely still solid with Ohio State," Coleman said. "When I made my decision it took a lot of weight off my shoulders. Now I can focus on the season and improving myself. Plus, I started to get a bunch of notoriety after I got the label of Ohio State Buckeye, so that's not bad, either."

:oh: :io:

so does this game act as a positive or negative for our recruiting???

I would have to think a positive. Where I sat, it was very loud. You have a full house, national coverage, and it was a very close game. The walk to the stadium for the players was pretty enthusiastic. You had Eddie George on the sidelines. I sometimes feel that our band gets out "energized" by the visiting bands.

How could it possibly be a negative? Football players understand that teams lose sometimes (fans should realize this as well). A prospect's visit won't be spoiled by a loss unless the home team got completely blown out or dogged it on the field. A recruit simply isn't going to leave The 'Shoe saying, "OSU played hard from beginning to end and lost to the #2 ranked team in the country by three points - no way I'm going there!" Recruits look at the big picture - how the team played; what kind of plays the team ran; did the team play with class and composure; did freshmen get to play (note to CB recruits - true freshman Malcolm Jenkins played yesterday, including crucial situations in the 4th quarter); and what were the fans and game day atmosphere like. In addition, the recruits will look at the "non game" aspects of the visit - the city, the campus, the classes, the coaching staff, the current players and commitments (that is, are the guys cool to hang with), the depth chart, and probably a few dozen other things as well. Remember, many recruits won't take official visits until after the season, so game day happenings aren't really as big a factor as most fans think.
