2005 Alamo Bowl: Nebraska 32, Michigan 28 (final)

didnt seem to bother us last year:biggrin:

The Buckeyes won their way into the Alamo Bowl by beating Michigan soundly. Michigan lost their way into this Bowl.

Here in ACC country, the newly expanded conference is aggressively seeking new Bowl affiliations. The local radio shows were thus on the phone with numerous Bowl Selection Committees this month, chatting up their conference and discussing selection criteria. EVERY BOWL COMMITTEE MEMBER INTERVIEWED, every single one, said that a big part of their criteria is a team that finished on an up beat or on a winning note.

They had a dozen ways to say it, but they all meant the same thing: the team performs better and the fans travel better when you win your way into the game rather than when you lose your way into it.

Adding a little to my bet for Michigan to win, and a little for Nebraska to cover.

My Michigan friend got back from his winter vacation so of course we had to have a big 'ol football game, OSU students vs. Michigan students. My friend got the ball, made a bunch of cuts and ran down the sideline for a long TD (dude ran track in HS, still fast). Of course, couldn't hold back tellin him "Hey, you gotta try out for your team...sure better than any of the starters now..."

He wasn't very fond of that comment.
