High School Football

I am probably going to be able to go to some games this year, which will be a lot of fun for me.

I want to follow my local team (Hilliard Darby), but they are not very good most seasons.

What are some big games on your High School Schedule.

My wife went to Massillon Jackson, so the game with N Canton Hoover is their rivalry, and the game with Massillon Perry is also big. They'd play Wasington, but Washington always dodges them.

I grew up in upstate NY, so HS football was shit :tongue2:

If you would like to experience a small division game, Monroeville vs. Norwalk St. Paul is always good. They are both in d6 and in the Firelands Conference. It is one of the oldest and best rivalries in Ohio. Both teams are always one of the top teams in d6 and the game is always good. The game is always good because of the rivalry even if one team has superior talent. I know ill be there to watch this one. The game will be at Monroeville this year in Week 5 which is Sep. 24. Last year Monroeville scored a td with no time left and faked the extra point instead of going for overtime and the tie, and lost.

Check out the calender for some of the games I have hilighted featuring OSU recruits. I want to go to the Glenville- Harding game, but it is at the same time as an OSU game so that is out. Other than that I would like to see Harding and Gelnville since i won't see them that day. Of course I will be goign to some Hubbard games this year.

I started a thread regarding a great weekend of football in Cincinnati the first week of the season held at UC. It's apparently the largest event of its kind in the nation.

Crosstown Showdown
Princeton vs. Winton Woods 10:00am
Anderson vs. Hamilton 12:30pm
Lakewood St. Edward vs. St. Xavier 3:00pm
Colerain vs. Elder 5:30pm
Lebanon vs. Moeller 8:00pm

hubbard, is the Glenville/harding game at the same time as the OSU-Cincy game? i was under the impression that OSU was at noon and Glenville game was in the evening. i was hoping to get to see Jamario shut out manningham!

Martins Ferry Purple Riders @ Shadyside Tigers
My Tigers may have bitten off more than they can chew there:yow1:

As for attending games, hopefully I will be involved in fifteen of them this year...but we do have one Thursday night game so I know I will be scouting on that friday, so make it 16 games

They changed the schedule for some reason. Instead of us playing Shadyside we're playing Black River...Hmmm. Black River went pretty far in the 03 playoffs.

2004 High School Games

Last year, Hubbard came up with a great idea - asking Planetarians to watch high school games in their local areas, and posting results, game notes, and your thoughts on the D-1 talent playing in those games.

What high school games will you be attending this year? These are the ones I'll be checking out:

8/27: Glenville at Mentor (OSU commitment Jamario O'Neal, plus Freddie Lenix, Tim Conner, and Curtis Smith)

9/18: Chagrin Falls at Hawken (Brian Robiskie from CF)

9/25: St. Ignatius home to St. Francis (NY) (Doug Worthington from St.F).

10/1: Maple Heights home to Garflield Heights (several minor D-1 prospects on both teams)

10/9: St. Ignatius home to Warren G. Harding (Mario Manningham, Rocco Cironi)

10/16: St. Edwards at St. Ignatius (OSU commitment Alex Boone)

10/22: Avon Lake at Westlake (Iowa commitments Trey Stross from AL and B.J. Travers from Westlake)

i plan on going to the Glenville vs. Harding game on Sept. 4th to watch Jamario & Co destroy manningham.

i'll probably go to several more in the canton/massilon area to see both hartlines and if any other big prospects come to play.
