Ohio State has gotten into this leap year in a big way, at least with prices of football tickets.

If you qualify for season tickets, you’ll notice a single-game ticketprice increase of $10 to $57 a ticket. That’s a 21.3 percent hike.

As for the ticket-price increases, if you weren’t aware of it, you probably won’t be affected, Simonson said.

"We’re not anticipating having any inventory available to people who just come to the box office, call over the phone or visit our ticket site on the internet," she said.

I'm annoyed at the increase but what is up with them saying they don't anticipate having sales on the internet. I usually buy a couple of the early games on hangonsloopy.com. Are there not going to be online sales this fall?

Key phrase is 'Season Tickets'. They will likely sell single games (especially prior to start of school) through HangOnSloopy, but not season tickets.

As a season ticket purchaser this is frustrating, but the fact that many others would gladly take my place in line says the tickets are still 'underpriced'.

You can't really blame them when people are willing to buy them from scalpers at insane prices. They want some of the action. Supply and demand. +$5 on student tickets, 4 games, that's $20 for me. Too bad, but I won't lose any sleep over it.

They'll definitely still do the single game tickets through hangonsloopy, or you can call 1-800-gobucks, but the price for the average ticket went up to $57.00, and that is a huge jump, by far the most expensive ticket in the Big 10. I would love to bitch about it, but as it was pointed out above, there are still only 105,000 tickets for each game, even though probably 500,000 people want them.

Actually it ties them with Michigan, with PSU yet to announce a project hike for this season that will definitely be close to - if not more than - OSUs top price. However, both of these schools do have more of a 'tiered' system based on seating location.

I have to say that prices like this shine the light more brightly on the absurdity of a Maurice Clarett being deemed ineligible because someone paid his cell phone bill. Not advocating a change in the rules, but 3-4 million per game in ticket sales alone is a lot of cash to bring in on the backs of amateurs.

As dissappointing as it may be, I think they very well may have really meant that there will be no sales of tickets online, season or single game. Why would this be different from recent seasons? Remember that most alumni only go as far a becoming a member of the alumni association and recieving the opportunity of purchasing a pair of tickets to one random game a season. Since there are only six home games this year more seats will have t be used to accomidate all the alumni with single game tickets. If there are 100,000 such alumni, that is 200,000 seats throughout the season. This would acount to 25,000 seats a game for 8 games or 33,333 for six games. 8,000 plus tickets a game is a big difference and I would bet there are more than 100k alumni getting single game tickets like this. I don't want to sound pessimistic, but it may be best not to get yours hopes up.

The AD department needs to get one more home game on the books this year... they need the money and we need the entertainment :biggrin:

I've always said that ticket prices were too low... there are people we sell some of our tickets to for well over $100 a game... the demand is huge, and supply isn't anywhere near demand.

Now the price of concessions is :x ... a large coke is $6.00 (that is a 24 pack when they go on a good sale)....

The ticket prices for OSU games were always dirt cheap .. I remember buying my season tickets my Freshman year at OSU (1993 Season) for $45 - FOR THE ENTIRE YEAR!!! Now that's nothing .. increases suck, but it is supply and demand ... and the 'Shoe has been the biggest bargain in town for a long time.
