Game Thread (2004) Bowl Game: MasterCard Alamo Bowl - Oklahoma State - 12/29/04 (W, 8-4/4-4)

Media Flip Card & Yankee Stuff

For your football viewing pleasure, the Official Alamo Bowl Media Flip Card can be found HERE (.pdf file, 300KB).

------

I plan on being at the Pep Rally this evening on The Riverwalk (don't be late, for the Arneson River Theater is small), and I will DEFINITELY be at the TBDBITL rehearsal tomorrow morning at 9 am. Woodwinds suck!

I pick up BlackhawkBuck from the airport tomorrow around dinner time (the dude is flying here from Germany to see this game). We will assault The Riverwalk shortly after ("You ... how much for your wife? Hahahahahaha!").

While I won't have a sticker that says "Hello, My Name is: Yankee" on my shirt, I will be wearing a scarlet fleece pullover (gray trim) with a sweet scarlet tOSU National Champions hat (the hat has "1942, 1954, 1957, 1961, 1968, 1970 & 2002" embroidered on the brim, along with a big "7-Time"). BlackhawkBuck and I will be in Section 112, Row 20, Seats 3 & 4 on gameday. Give us a holler. Or pull us out of the shrubs, and point us to the Armadillo Dome (don't spill our beer, please).

I've been listening to Buckeye Battle Cry, Fight The Team, Hang On Sloopy and Le Regiment all day ... psyched would be an understatement.

Hope to see y'all soon !

Who will be the MVP of the Alamo Bowl?

I have a feeling that it will be Justin Zwick. Oklahoma St. does not have a strong pass rush, nor a very good secondary. The potential is there for a big game from our passing offense. Mix this all in with what I see as a pivotal opportunity in Justin's career, and I think that he will begin to show what was expected of him coming out of high school. Sometimes it takes a benching to make you realize that you aren't playing well, I think Justin has realized this.

On the other hand, I also can see Vernand Morency getting this prize if our defense has trouble stopping the run.

If I had to bet on it I would give the nod to Zwick.

Could be the other TG. Though the esprit de press corps could give the nod to Zwick should the following unfold.

Have TG Jr run posts. Drags coverage with him.

Holmes will be wrapped up tight.

Could leave T Gonzalez open (a lot) over the middle.

However, ....
If Ted Ginn Jr. does his best impersonation of a flying Buckeye more than once MVP could be his for the taking.

Gameday in Tay-has

BlackhawkBuck made it in from Germany yesterday, and we spent the evening drinking margaritas on The Riverwalk and listening to:

:oh: ...... :io:

echo off of all the hotels downtown. At one point, some young Oklahoma State fans walked by, and one of them told us that we were wearing the wrong colors. I asked him to repeat himself, and he said it again, laughing. As they walked away, I remarked to BlackhawkBuck "Yeah, I remember MY first beer ... " which immediately broke up all the Poke's buddies. We actually saw someone in a Meat Chicken hat (he was summarily abused), and another young fella in a F*ck M*ch*g*n t-shirt arguing with some other young fella from Detroit. I love this shit !!!!

Lunch on The Riverwalk, followed by more margaritas and then at 2 PM CDST the Buckeye Bash ... which I understand will be run just like a St. John's Skull Session. Then its on to the Tailgate at Sunset Station, and then the game.

Its absolutely great to see so much Scarlet and Gray in San Antonio.
