  • I was looking up a Jets player named Ed Bell and stumbled across a newspaper from 1973. Just on that one page not all that long ago...

You could buy a Ford for $47.25/month,

You could get a set of tires for under $100,

Police officers were starting at just over $8,000/year,

48% of NBA draft hopefuls were black.

The paper? The Baltimore Afro-American, established in 1892 and still published (weekly) to this day.

As for Mr. Bell, it appears he was pulled over in Manhattan back then for driving while black, aka a "routine check" according to the report.

There was a little more in it but you have to actually be able to read to get it. Sorry, scott.

Scott, I, and probably countless others would appreciate your kind act of reading it and making it available for us via MS Paint interpretation.

    Thanks!

(Yes, this is a super dare)
