#18 Sparty at tOSU, Friday 8 ET on Fox

Definitely not Thornton’s best outing, but he’ll rebound. Hate the loss, but I’m encouraged that after being down like they were, they didn’t fold. Instead, they fought back and got the lead although short lived. Think they just got gassed from the comeback effort.

So, is there any reason why with a team that's a bit undersized but fairly deep that Diebler's chosen to play slow down half court ball rather than the aggressive more up tempo style with some pressing that he brought life to last year's team with?

It seemed to me they were struggling to get to their spots to run their halfcourt offense vs MSU. Sparty was pushing them well past the 3-point line, the Buckeyes struggled to move the ball in the halfcourt which forced them into a lot of late clock situations, and there didn't seem to be much of an adjustment to counter. But you're right there was some stagnation in the halfcourt offense & guys seemed to be kind of on their heels - I feel like that was more of a thing just for this game, and hopefully it won't be a trend. I will say also they seemed to try to play fast vs some other teams like A&M and Maryland and it really didn't work - generally speaking, playing fast only works when you have a talent advantage. This game it just seemed like OSU didn't have enough playmakers - for the first time, it seemed like they missed having Meechie out there.
