Strengths:
Absolutely has a feel for the game and a body that will allow him to be a very good player with elite potential. His bag of tricks includes a mid-range game and work on the baselines. We expect him to get taller and round out into a strong wing athlete with good feel. To already own a floater and his diversity on offense speaks to the talent he is.

Weaknesses:
His body could be that of a 195 pounder in time but is thin for the time being.

Bottom Line:
This young man has all the markers to be an elite player at his wing position. A natural shot maker, we'll watch him closely as his game unfolds.

Jackson is an excellent jump shooter off the catch or dribble with range to the arc. He runs the floor and spots up, spaces on penetration, comes off screens and hits the midrange pull-up or floater when he does not have a clear path to the basket, where he uses his great length and athletic ability to finish above the rim. Jackson has the build of Reggie Miller and can get on a roll and knock down jumpers quickly if the defense loses his whereabouts. Jackson shoots over smaller defenders like they are invisible. He must add strength and be stronger with the ball, but his ability to shoot is special. Schools like North Carolina, Kansas, Ohio State, Texas and Washington are in the mix for his services.

Justin Jackson (Houston Hoops/2014) ? When it?s all said and done, Jackson may end up as the best of bunch from Houston?s group of guards. He?s a 6?7? shooting guard with a long lean frame who has been drawing comparisons to Reggie Miller and one high major head coach even told me Jackson reminded him of George Gervin. His perimeter shot is his strongest offensive weapon right now but he also has a gorgeous floater that he showed off on a baseline drive and a jump hook in the lane over a bigger defender.

ELITE ?14 PROSPECT JUSTIN JACKSON HAS BUSY SUMMER OF HOOPS AHEAD

Texas is not just a hotbed for college football prospects any more. The Lonestar State is a burgeoning power in produciton of high-level college basketball prospects. Class of 2014 prospect Justin Jackson is one of the latest elite level talents to come out of Texas and much of the country?s elite programs are already very interested in the 6-foot07, 180-pound small forward who runs with the Houston Hoops AAU program.

Jackson has been impressive already on the AAU circuit participating in the highly competitive Nike Elite Youth Basketball League, helping Houston Hoops get out to a 12-2 record through the first three legs of the circuit. As the team?s second leading scorer (13.1 points per game) and adding 5 rebounds a contest, Jackson has shown his vesatile offensive game, knocking down three-pointers at an impressive clip (38%) and mixing in athletic finishes at the rim, offensive putbacks and mid-range jumpers to shoot 56% overall from the field through 14 contests. Jackson cherishes his opportunity with Houston Hoops to compete in the high level Nike league.

?I play for the Houston Hoops [on the AAU circuit],? Jackson said. ?The best part is just being on one of the elite programs in the country and I?m enjoying my teammates this year.?

Jackson will be in Oakland (CA) this weekend to finish off the preliminary rounds of the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League. While the EYBL shuts down until the July open evaluation period when the Peach Jam will serve as the league?s championship game, Jackson will remain very busy in his basketball travels with a very flattering opportunity to tryout to represent his country.

?I?m looking forward to the USA trials in June,? he told NBE Sports yesterday. ?I have also been invited to the Kevin Durant and Lebron James camps, but it all depends on if I make the USA team.?

Just being a Class fo 2014 prospect, Jackson is still in the early stages of his recruitment as he listed no favorites and told NBE he is still open in the process. The top programs in the country are already lining up and making their intentions know on how heavily they plan to recruit him.

?I have been offered by Texas, Texas A&M, Baylor, Washington, Ohio State, Georgetown, Virginia [and] Virginia Tech,? noted Jackson. ?Others that are recruiting me are Duke, North Carolina, Kansas, Illinois, Stanford, Florida, Michigan, and some others.?

MARYLAND FIRST TO REACH OUT TO ?14 F JUSTIN JACKSON

As one of the elite prospects in the Class of 2014, it comes as no surprise college coaches have punched in the number of Justin Jackson many times since 12:00 AM on June 15th. At that time the unlimited class and text rule went into effect and it was the first time college coaches could personally call or text players in the Class of 2014.

Jackson, a 6-foot-7, 180 pound F who is on the AAU circuit this spring and summer with Houston Hoops, is taking the recruiting regulations in stridle, but is weary of how the process will unfold after this initial excitement wears off.

?It?s fine right now, but I?m sure I will get tired of it,? said Jackson. ?It is a part of today?s age, but I?m trying not to get caught up in it.?

Coaches wasted little time in getting out of the gate and contacting Jackson.

?Maryland was the first one to call at midnight,? he said.

It was the first he has heard from Maryland in the recruiting process, although head coach Mark Turgeon is very familiar with recruiting Texas from his time at Texas A&M in the past. Following the call from Maryland, a steady stream of programs have been reaching out to Jackson.

?Texas, Texas A&M, Ohio State, North Carolina, Florida, Michigan, SMU, Kansas, Harvard, Stanford, and others,? said Jackson when asked what other schools has he heard form already.

SF Justin Jackson visited by Ohio State, Washington, Baylor, Arizona

Class of 2014 small forward Justin Jackson hasn?t been able to take any unofficial visits since his Baylor trip a couple of weeks ago, but plenty of programs have come to see him in his Houston home since then.
Ohio State, Washington, Arizona and Baylor have all come to see 6?7, 180-pound wing and Florida (Thursday) and Virginia (Saturday) are among the other schools scheduled to visit him.
?The Ohio State in-home was good,? Jackson told NRS. ?We just sat down and talked a little while. It was actually really good because we talked a lot more about academics than basketball. Obviously he (assistant Jeff Boals) is a basketball coach so we talked a little bit about basketball but it was a lot more of just personal stuff and then the academic side. It was pretty good.?

Free Rivals - Flyin' to the Hoop: Grand finale

A day after a historic battle with Luke Kennard, 2014 four-star small forward Justin Jackson took his game to an even higher level on Sunday. Matched up against one of the nation's most elite 2016 guards in Akron (Ohio) St. Vincent-St. Mary's freshman V.J. King, Jackson made the top scorers list in the Flyin' to the Hoop record book look outdated, as he overtook former Kentucky star Brandon Knight for third all-time with a whopping 41 points in an overtime win.

Jackson had it going in every possible way as a scorer, especially with his smooth jump-shot, including a deep one from 25 feet with just four seconds in regulation to send the game to overtime. For the second day in a row, the 6-foot-7 forward was aggressive attacking the rim and is showing improvement at using his length to shoot floaters over defenders from inside the lane to avoid charges. Also an efficient scorer in the post area, Jackson uses his length in this area, shooing turn-around jumpers over either shoulder. Jackson's 41 points came on 13 of 26 shooting, including 13 of 15 from the foul line, and he also recorded 11 rebounds and six assists.
