Since when is Pittsburgh a small town? You may want to read up on the recruiting forum rules, attacking a recruit's intelligence by saying "If he was smart..." is not okay here.

And I don't see how in the wide world of sports any athlete with an offer from Pitt and tOSU could turn down tOSU.

Pitt is just awful and will be awful for the foreseeable future.

We're talking about the Pitt that took Wisconsin's running coaching staff. They kind of know what they're doing with offensive linemen.

Yeah. Time will tell how he does as a HC, but Chryst is a bright offensive coach...couldn't fault any PA kids from jumping on that wagon. Pitt might benefit from the Ped Aggy fiasco more than anyone.

I don't think he was attacking the kid's intelligence. "If [so-and-so] was smart, he'd..." is a fairly common phrase that's suggestive of what would be the best course of action. Now, if he were to say "If he picks Pitt, then we don't want stupid kids like that", then that would be attacking the kid.

Let's get right to what a lot of people want to know: What's up with Dorian Johnson? He is Belle Vernon's 6-foot-6, 290-pound mountain, er, senior offensive lineman. He committed to Penn State earlier this summer, but when the NCAA sanctions hit Happy Valley, Johnson called coach Bill O'Brien and backed out of his commitment.

Johnson has many other scholarship offers to consider. Alabama, Notre Dame, Georgia, West Virginia and many others have offered. When I asked Johnson if Pitt was now his top choice, he said, "Pitt and Ohio State." But he added that he would be taking some visits in the future.

Johnson will be the subject of our "Blue Chip Chat" series in tomorrow's paper. He talks about a number of things, including what it was like to tell O'Brien that he was backing out of his commitment.

Johnson is certainly impressive physically. Upper body resembles something of a sophomore or junior in college.

Pure and total speculation on my part, but.... I personally feel that the longer things drag out the better our chances and the better chances of him not having a knee-jerk reaction to the more "home team". I think this will also allow him time to obseve, on the field, that our "we need tackles" pitch is more than just a pitch and is an attrative reality for an incoming freshman.:osu:

THE SCOOP

One of the most imposing linemen you will see on the high school level. Johnson, who has added 25 pounds since last season, is tall with long arms and has the ideal build for a big-time offensive tackle. Rivals.com ranks Johnson the No. 23 offensive lineman in the country and SuperPrep magazine ranks him at No. 20. Johnson has been a starter since his sophomore season.

COLLEGE TALK

In June, Johnson made a verbal commitment to Penn State. But a few weeks after Penn State was hit with NCAA sanctions, Johnson told Penn State he wanted to attend college elsewhere and reopened his recruiting. He has many other scholarship offers from Pitt, Ohio State, West Virginia, Alabama and Notre Dame, among others.

Were you always a big kid? I was always the biggest in my class. I was about 6-4 as a freshman and maybe 6 feet in sixth grade.

Did you ever play basketball? Never. I was just never interested in it. Our high school coach tried to get me to come out last season.

Wow...I never said he was dumb...did I? I just believe that OSU is a better place for him to become an NFL lineman since the Walrus is gone. And yes I've been to Pitt...it's not as big of a place as OSU. My point was he may want to stay closer to home...which makes Pitt an attractive choice. No reason to go on attack or offensive. No moderator got on me about my comment...so chill (not to mention you should leave that up to them). It wasn't meant to be taken the way you did. May be asking for clarification is a better method of inquiry...as opposed to accusations. We're all Buckeye fans here for the most part and I didn't mean to offend you or anyone. But I'd ask next time...instead of accusing.

^^^^^Bingo! Clarification can be a good thing...if you actually ask...instead of accuse. Go Bucks and btw..we're arguing over a kid that probably won't go to OSU anyway.

Considering the amount of OSU offers and available scholarships, most prospects discussed here "probably" won't go to OSU. Love the insight and optimism.

Everything points to Johnson being genuinely undecided. I'm hopeful for an official visit swaying him to OSU.
