#13 Ohio State @ Indiana, Jan 6th, 7pm EST, FS1

Yikes, that was bad and there is no other way to put it. Not a good start back, but perhaps to be expected with the break and being on the road in a hostile crowd. On to the next.
Next game will tell a lot. It seems to me like this team has struggled badly in January under Holtmann. That’s a trend that needs to end. We need to clobber the Nerds on Sunday, I’m talking convincing double digit win. A trip to Madison next week might be asking a lot. Then we get the pedtards and corn at home. If we don’t take 3/4, we could be in trouble.

Woof. Road games in this conference are brutal. Had great seats for this one (7th row behind the hoop) and it’s amazing how physical this league is. IU got away with a lot of body contact - moving OSU shooters out of their original spot in the air. Only one they really caught was #45 Stewart for them - he played D like a bull just leaning his body into people. But otherwise, you just aren’t going to get those calls on the road. Lesson for the team in a hostile environment.

Also, TJD is a different animal this year and especially at home. IU will still struggle mightily at the guard spot. Unfortunately that’s not an area OSU can make them pay - serviceable guys but not a great backcourt. Russell seemed like he didn’t belong in the Big league tonight but hope adjusts.

Branham is a baller. Young Kevin Durant in so many ways. He’s a next level dude. Tough shooting night but I don’t have doubts about him.

Anyway, on to the next.

Box score shows 13 PFs each team but dunno when IU started being called cuz both halves began with ONLY OSU being called well into the half...
The game broadcast posted score and # fouls under both teams throughout the game .. took a long time each half till anything showed under IU
It was physical.. under the basket was not for the timid...
IU plays excellent defense... but as @OHSportsFan said.. it bordered homefield bias by the striped...
Bucks started to panic a bit and forced shots... #29 was a killer... dominated both ends of the court

When one team is attacking the basket while the other is chucking up threes the latter is going to get rewarded at the free throw line. Over 75% of IU's shots were twos while over 50% of the Bucks shots were threes. IU was the more aggressive team on both ends of the floor and the Bucks had no answer for Davis.

When the Bucks beat Duke, only 37% of OSU's shots were threes. They attacked the basket, Zed had a monster night, and OSU shot more FTs than #1 Duke. OSU needs to get back to playing that way, rather than falling in love with the three point shot. Do that and you'll get your calls. Play passively and you lose, then fans blame the refs.

We needed Dawand in the middle to 'guard' 29.. Kyle Young tried to beat him up as much as he could
but when our fellas were being molested under our basket.. didn't see any calls our way
and those fellas on the ground were Young and EJ so they weren't touch fouls not being called

Me.. a homer.. no way... haaaaaaaaaa

Indiana coach Mike Woodson calls upset of Ohio State the "best game we've played all season."

I'm sure that it probably was; it's just that I would have liked it much better had Indiana of waited until Saturday (vs Minnesota) to play their "best game of the season"......
