ATH Ross Douglas, Avon, Ohio
Playing running back and cornerback for Avon High, Douglas shows that he is a true athlete with above average speed. His build looks more like a future defensive back or slot receiver, as opposed to running back, in college. Listed at 5-10 and 180 pounds, Douglas has ideal size for a cornerback and appears most likely headed there at the next level, though it is still early.
As a running back, Douglas has good speed to the corner and displays good balance. He does not change direction especially well and lacks the shake many smaller backs possess. As a cornerback, he appears to turn and run with receivers easily and has a nice break on the football. He anticipates well and is able to bait quarterbacks into throwing interceptions. Douglas shows the willingness to help in run support. He is a good form tackler, though does not strike with a lot of pop and will need to add that element to his game in the weight room. All in all, there is plenty here to justify early offers from Connecticut, Tennessee and Minnesota.
