Strengths:
Brings a scorer's approach to the wing position. Has the kind of build that reminds us of Nick Faust. He's far from strong but finds a way to sneak into the lane. Hunts his buckets and likes to get his pulls up. His game could develop in a few directions. Advanced scoring weapons include a floater.

Weaknesses:
Wired to score and hasn't gotten comfortable playing without the ball in his hands. He's a good enough athlete that he should be able to transition from scorer to passer because he's capable. Needs a mid-range game. Needs to become more economical with his shots and become a more consistent 3-point threat.

Bottom Line:
Good scorer with attributes to play at a high level. How his body and game develop are the question marks.

With stock rising, Lewis ready to adapt game for Christ the King

PHILADELPHIA ? Isaiah Lewis?s game and role are in transition.

A year ago, the rising junior was an explosive force off the bench for a senior-laden Christ the King team, known mostly for his scoring punch. With guards Corey Edwards and T.J. Curry off to college, Lewis will step into a starting job and will be asked to adapt his game a bit to take over as the team?s point guard.

?I?ve been scoring all my life,? Lewis said. ?I am trying to mix it up now -- pass, facilitate, be a leader and score at the same time. I?ve been used to coming off screens and just getting buckets, but now I?m going to be able to do that, but do it in the flow of things.?

CK's Isaiah Lewisis ready to make the transition to point guard.

It?s a change he is embracing knowing he has UConn-bound guard Omar Calhoun and rising junior Jon Severe alongside him. This week at the Reebok Breakout Challenge at Philadelphia University, Lewis said he hasn?t worried about showing off his scoring ability ? people know he can do that ? but instead prove he can run a team, rebound and pass with the best of them as well.

?I think that he is starting to realize that he can get into the lane and be just as effective passing,? Royals coach Joe Arbitello said in a phone interview.

The 6-foot-3 Lewis, who plays his travel ball with the Albany City Rocks, certainly put that on display during his final game of the event. He used his lightning-quick first step to get to the basket with ease and fired off a pin-point pass. Later, he made a no-look feed to 6-foot-9 Jack Donovan of Reading Central Catholic for a dunk and found him over the top of the defense again for another soon after.

?Some of the schools who are recruiting me are recruiting me as a point guard.? Lewis said.

The list of schools is long and prominent. Lewis said he already has offers from Kansas, UConn, Florida, Florida State, Ohio State, Arkansas, Rutgers, St. John?s, Seton Hall, Temple, West Virginia and Arizona. Miami also has interest and Kentucky recently called Arbitello about him.

Lewis in for Late Night? Possibly
Posted by Matt Scott On July - 15 - 2011

When it comes to the most well-known basketball hotbeds in America, New York City is always near the top of the list. While the talent level in the Big Apple seems to have been down a bit lately, the city?s class of 2013 has the look of being a great one.

Isaiah Lewis, a 6-foot-3 shooting guard out of Christ the King (NY), is part of that crop of rising juniors in NYC. Lewis was part of a large group of New Yorkers at the Reebok Breakout Challenge and while he took the time to discuss his recruitment with TheShiver.

Lewis claims offers from Arizona, Washington, Kansas, Miami, Florida, Florida State, Ohio State, Rutgers, Seton Hall, and St. John?s. In addition, he is hearing from Kentucky, UConn, Memphis, Notre Dame, Duke, North Carolina, and Providence.

ISAIAH LEWIS CONSIDERING A LIST OF 8

Buy Your Tickets to this Season's Biggest Games!

Christ the King junior guard Isaiah Lewis had a strong summer and is now looking forward to seeing what colleges come to New York City to see him work out.

?Coaches haven?t came to see me yet because workouts start this week coming up,? he said. ?I?m looking forward to seeing who comes out.?

It has been a steady progression up the ranks of recruits in the Class of 2013 for Lewis, who started his Christ the King career with little fanfare as a freshman. After a very good sophomore season being thrust into a major role alongside UConn (tickets) commit Omar Calhoun right from his first varsity game through now, where he enters his junior year as one of the top players in the class.

?The best part about attending CTK is that I?ve gotten better each year,? said Lewis. ?I came in my freshmen year not ranked [and with] no offers, nothing, [and] kept working and now I?m top 50 in my class, so its paying off.?

Lewis is looking forward to a big year with goals of a City Championship and a run at a State Title with the Royals. With the success on the court has also brought plenty of recruiting attention and Lewis has impressive list of eight schools currently under consideration.

?I?m considering eight: Memphis, Kansas, North Carolina, Georgia Tech, Miami, Florida, Louisville (tickets) [and] Arizona,? said Lewis. ?I haven?t visited any [of the] eight yet but I will as the school year goes on.?

The first planned visits are for Georgia Tech and Arizona for some time this month. Lewis noted that Kansas is standing out to him right now, along with Georgia Tech.
