Purdue appears in good position with Fort Wayne guard
Posted by Kyle Neddenriep

Bryson Scott (2013) is relatively early in his recruiting process, but the 6-1 guard from Fort Wayne Northrop made it clear Wednesday night that he may not be all that far away from wrapping it up.

"Maybe the start of my sophomore year or going into my junior year," said Scott, who scored 28 points in a win at the Best of the Midwest for the Spiece Indy Heat, playing up a year in the 16-and-under division.

Scott, whose twin brother Brenton also plays on his high school and travel team, took notice of Purdue coach Matt Painter watching at the end of the court Wednesday. Purdue is currently the only school to offer him a scholarship, but he has plans to visit Indiana and Ohio State in August.

Northrop's Scott twins gaining offers
Sophomores Brenton and Bryson Scott turning heads

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - After a 13-8 campaign in 2009, things are starting to look up at Northrop. That's because the Bruins have one of the best tandems in the area in the Scott twins.

Brenton and Bryson Scott held their own in their freshman year for the Bruins, but the team finished sixth in the SAC. With more experience under their belt, the Scott twins are ready to bring pride back to Northrop basketball.

This summer, Brenton and Bryson are playing plenty of basketball including participating in the USSSA tournament at Spiece Fieldhouse for Spiece Indy Heat Bradley.

Brenton, who's older by about five minutes, tends to play the perimeter more claiming to be a better shooter than his brother Bryson who likes to attack the basketball more.

The basketball community is picking up on the skills of the Scott twins. Bryson has an offer from Purdue already on the table and is visiting Indiana and Ohio State in August. Brenton has offers from IPFW and Ohio.

Update on Fort Wayne?s Scott twins
September 20, 2010
Written by Kyle Neddenriep

Fort Wayne Northrop twin sophomore guards Bryson and Brenton Scott took an unofficial visit to Purdue on Saturday for the Ball State-Purdue football game.

The 6-1 Bryson has been the more highly recruited of the two so far, although the 6-foot Brenton has picked up offers from IPFW and Ohio.

?A lot of high majors are after Bryson right now and Brenton more of the mid-majors,? said their father, Brent Scott.

The elder Scott said Bryson currently has offers from Indiana, Ohio State and Purdue, but added that each of the brothers is getting interest from a number of other schools. Indiana and Purdue are also recruiting Brenton and Ball State is in on both.

Of the two, Brent Scott said Bryson plays with ?more of an edge? in attacking the basket, while Brenton is mostly a perimeter threat. Both started as freshmen at Northrop.

Could a commitment be forthcoming for either Scott? Probably not, although Brent Scott admitted Bryson ?is getting a little antsy.?

?Ideally they would both wait until after their junior year,? Scott said. ?That?s what we?re thinking right now. If something happened where we thought we needed to (decide), then we might take a different look at it.?

Bryson Scott 'dealing with' recruiting process
Fort Wayne Northrop sophomore guard Bryson Scott and his twin, Brenton, are headed to Indiana University's Hoosier Hysteria on Friday night.

Bryson Scott holds scholarship offers from Indiana and Purdue but said even though the process is becoming a bit of a "hassle," that he's not ready to make a decision.

"It's picked up that's for sure," he said. "It's been kind of a hassle but I am dealing with it. I am just weighing my options right now.

"I really don't have a plan."

The 6-foot-1 Bryson Scott said he's also hearing a lot from Ohio State and Michigan State and was "looking forward" to seeing Hoosier Hysteria.

Brenton Scott, who is a 6-foot guard, is also making the trip and getting recruited by some of the same schools. But Brenton's offers are from Ohio U and IPFW.

"He's getting MAC schools and I am getting high-major schools but he understands," Bryson said. "He doesn't get too upset about it. He understands the process."

Scott, with his 18 points and 4.8 rebounds, has always been kind of a package deal with his twin brother, Brenton, but Bryson has emerged as the more talented of the two and has attracted offers from bigger programs.

?I feel like I can take us to state (finals), me and my brother,? Bryson Scott said. ?That?s how I feel. I feel confident enough in my ability to take us to state. Last year, I wasn?t as highly thought of, but this year, I am going to step up even more. There are other stars who are going to step up, too.?

Northrop sophomore commits to Purdue
Staff, news services

Northrop sophomore Bryson Scott made an oral commitment Sunday to play for basketball for Purdue.

Scott, who is 6-foot-1, is ranked as the No. 17 shooting guard in the country in the Class of 2013 by ESPN.com.

Scott also had a scholarship offer from Indiana and said he got one over the phone from Ohio State but never visited the campus.

?It just felt like it was a good time for me to do it,? Scott said of his early decision to commit. ?Purdue is a good place for me to play, and I like the coaching staff and I like the way they play.

?I just liked the way (coach Matt Painter) was very enthusiastic about me. He just felt like I could be a major part of this program. He?s a good coach.?

Scott is the first oral commitment for 2013. His good friend, Rapheal Davis, a junior guard at South Side, has made an oral commitment to play for Purdue in 2012.

?He was very excited for me,? said Scott, who talked to Davis on Sunday night. ?I?m very excited about being a Boilermaker in a couple years.?
