Recruiting: Collier end narrows schools to four

Barron Collier tight end Mike Heuerman has been very busy the past four months. His film hit the recruiting world in early December and since then, he has earned more than 20 verbal offers.
About a month ago, he cut his list down to just four schools. After visiting Miami, Ohio State and LSU, he recently dropped by Notre Dame.
?I really enjoyed watching Notre Dame practice,? Heuerman said. ?It is very clear that the tight end position is featured in the offense. Practice was intense, and they looked like a team that is ready to win.?
Heuerman spent some time with Fighting Irish sophomore defensive end Aaron Lynch (Island Coast). ?It definitely makes it better when you know someone who is there. Talking to the coaches and administration will only get you so far,? Heuerman said. ?I really got inside the program by talking to the players. It is something I have been able to do at each of my final four schools.?
Heuerman is not ready to make his final decision.
?I still have plans to attend Miami?s spring game on April 14 and Ohio State?s spring game on April 21. I was upset to miss the Miami scrimmage on Friday night. I think it is awesome that they came to Southwest Florida. I know a lot of guys were excited to go the scrimmage.?
The plan all along for Heuerman was to make an early decision.
?I am not sure when it will be, but it should be before summer,? he said. ?I am excited for our new coach (Dave Pallante), and I have to continue to get healthy (hamstring) for spring football. All that I know for certain right now is that I have four excellent options, and I can see myself being happy at each of them. They all are about even today.?
Heuerman has added about 15 pounds of muscle so far this offseason.
