He's a freshmen and a starter and everyone has been comparing him to another Winfield. I watched him play and he can hit/tackle like Chris Wells, did when he was playing LB but, he's Winfield size.

He had a running 63 yard TD a few weeks ago and everyone kept saying that was the best running TD they've every seen by a Garfield RB including, his coach and the past coaches

Yet, as impressive as Tyson was, his brother had what has to be one of the best touchdown runs of the season.

Toneo Gulley took a handoff with 2:31 left in the third quarter and appeared to be stopped. He broke the initial tackle, ran into two more defenders and managed to break away from them.

Another Ellet defender grabbed Toneo's jersey near the sideline and spun the 5-foot-7, 170-pounder around.

Toneo still wouldn't go down, and after breaking two more tackles (seven in all), he raced 64 yards down the sideline for the touchdown, and a 20-0 Garfield lead.

''I just tried to keep my feet moving,'' said Toneo, who is just 14 years old. ''I have to thank my line for all the blocking they did.''

Former Garfield coach Bill McGee was with the Rams for 26 years and compiled a 191-83-4 record and 16 City titles. He returned as the defensive coordinator.

McGee said Toneo Gulley's touchdown was one of the best he has seen ? and he has seen his share of outstanding touchdown runs.

''No question that's the best touchdown run I've ever seen,'' McGee said. ''I thought he was down five times. It looked like every player on Ellet's team missed him twice.

''I give the officials credit for not blowing the whistle and stopping the play because it just seemed like he was going down, but he didn't.''

Garfield coach Bob Sax said: ''It was an amazing run, and I have to agree; it was the best touchdown run I've ever seen, too.''

Yeah, he's that good. I have a cousin that plays saftey for Garfield, and I've been to a few of their games. He's a freakishly good athlete and fast. The only knock is that he's small, and may not grow to to be any taller than 5'7"-8" range. His whole family is short. He isn't as tall as most reports, he may be 5'5" 145, soaking wet, with two bricks in each pocket right now.

same here.He will be a major prospect. Every time I hear a freshmen starting at Garfield means he has the talent to be special. Watch out for his brother Tyson, a junior he started as a freshmen.

2nd team all city. The two players ahead of him made some type of all Ohio honors. The only freshman in football that I can remember to make the all city team. Some of the local radio around here had some coaches and retired coaches on saying, if he's not the TOP RUNNING BACK or CORNER in OHIO when he's a senior then, must be a Beanie or Ginn in Ohio.

Akron Garfield coach Bob Sax knew he needed to do something to open up his offense as the Rams navigated a brutal early season schedule.

So he went to a shotgun spread look that features both Gulley Brothers - senior Tyson and sophomore Toneo - in the backfield with both taking snaps at quarterback.

Ohio.com - Hoover completes huge comeback

Garfield 27, Firestone 7 - Sophomore Toneo Gulley rushed for two touchdowns and caught another as the host Golden Rams (5-3, 4-0) defeated the Falcons (3-5, 2-2) at InfoCision Stadium.

Gulley had touchdown runs of two yards and 48 yards in the second quarter and caught a 37-yard touchdown pass from his brother, Tyson Gulley, in the third. Senior Bud Brown had a 56-yard touchdown run in the first quarter for the Golden Rams. Toneo Gulley finished with 98 rushing yards and Brown had 120.

Here with Kenosha (Wisc.) Tremper running back Toneo Gulley. The 5-7, 185-pound back rushed for 1,659 yards and 23 rushing touchdowns on 97 carries. He also had three receiving touchdowns.

Gulley compares himself to Maurice Jones-Drew. Gulley feels he is short, fast and powerful like Drew and he also possesses the versatility of a Jones-Drew.

He got his first offer from Bowling Green on New Year's Eve.

"That was the first one and it was exciting."

He is also hearing from Minnesota, Ball State, Central Michigan, Syracuse, Nebraska, Wisconsin, Michigan State and Notre Dame.

"I grew up watching Ohio State. That was my favorite team as a kid. My brother plays for Syracuse now so I am a Syracuse fan. I have been to a Wisconsin game and like the facilities there.

Gulley's brother is Syracuse RB/kick returner Prince-Tyson Gulley.

Education is most imporant to Gulley. He carries a 3.7 GPA in the classroom.
