'12 PA LB Deaysean Rippy (Pittsburgh Signee)

One of the biggest names at the combine has arrived. Deaysean Rippy from Pittsburgh (Pa.) Sto-Rox is here and listed his top six offers from Florida, Ohio State, Pitt, Alabama, USC and Michigan.

He said the Gators are an early favorite.

"When I went down there it was a nice campus," Rippy said. "Gainesville is kind of small but the players were down there and I took my family with me. They're kind of family-oriented. The coaches were just great."

An early favorite, not the early favorite, big difference in my opinion.

I also like the quote "they're kind of family-oriented," hopefully if that is something he is looking for, Tressel and company can win him over by being entirely family oriented.

disappointing

at some point their depth has to be a concern for these recruits.

That quote reads to me like the question he answered was posed by a Florida (or at least SE-centric) reporter. Not having a subscription, I couldn't say for certain.

Regardless, Rippy said that UF is an early favorite, not the early favorite. OSU is still if a great position with him.

Deaysean says Florida and Ohio State are his top two right now but Syracuse, Georgia and Alabama are also in the mix. He has not heard from Penn State and is not concerned about that.

This makes me laugh. The stuff being said about that program are apparently true: They have zero recruiting presence right now. I think we saw some of the early effects from this, this football season and I expect it to be worse next year. Seriously, a guy like Deaysean Rippy is one of the best nationally and it appears, albeit early, that PSU isn't really in the picture
