Yeah at some point I started wondering why I'm watching this. Why watch college basketball at all this year? Does anyone have an actual chance of beating Kentucky? I don't think so.
This Ohio State team has been building toward what I think it is: the least competitive, least fun Ohio State team in the Matta era. I think I had more fun watching the 2007-2008 NIT Champions. They were certainly easier to root for. It's painful to watch this team play. Even the Marquette game, probably their best win of the year, was hard for me to swallow. May just be me, but this team isn't the same this year.

First half reminds me of Louisville, totally outclassed. That night the Bucks responded in the second half. Couldn't pull off a win but they played much better. Let's hope for a similar bounce back today.

I'm really not sure this team is good enough right now to be in the tournament. They will lose to just about everyone but Rutgers, scUM and Ped State in the B1G if they keep playing like this....
It isn't as much about the schedule (which sucks) as it is getting contributions from all 5 players on the court and especially your upper-classmen. With Amir being limited (not to mention the other players), it's just not a complete roster being trotted out there.
UNC is well-coached, patient and clearly they know where to go against Ohio State. Playing more RPI top-50 teams just isn't going to make up for the deficiencies this roster has right now....

Ive seen those reports but watching the team today, Im not too impressed by anyone. He looks great in games against scrubs, hell the whole team does. Maybe he has what it takes to make it and maybe its the team play around him that might be skewing my view.

Well that looked like competent basketball the last 2 plays of the half (Lee dunk, Tate lay in). UNC helped by going press and also mistiming their last shot- and not getting back.
Let's do more of that and shut me up, Buckeyes.

Everyone always freaks out after one half like we are a terrible team. UNC shot over 50% in the first half, some of that was due to poor defense some of that is just the shots falling. Normally things even out over the course of a game. I'm not ready to start looking at the NIT field just yet

Btw, even for my pessimistic/realistic basketball viewpoint and seeing this team's weaknesses...I disagree strongly with the "not a tournament team" and "least fun to watch" comments.
I mean, c'mon. Buckeyes are in and will finish top 5 in the Big Ten. They are probably a fringe Top 25-30 team right now. Plus, watching a guy like Russell when he gets going (as he will this 2nd half) is a good time.
Definitely a frustrating first half but it'll get better.

The bolded is why I'm not really overly concerned with how this performs this year. Duke is probably the only team I see that has a chance to beat Kentucky and even they haven't looked as dominant as the Cats this year. Might as well have fun watching the young pups develop.
The thing that's bothered me most this year was just how...not very good this senior class is. Just insanely disappointing to see how bad this senior class has turned out with the exception of Laquinton Ross.
