Mansfield Senior's Dorsey being courted by OSU, others
BY CURT CONRAD ? News Journal ? September 2, 2010

MANSFIELD -- If this continues, Terrell Dorsey is going to need a travel secretary.

Mansfield Senior's junior running back is quickly becoming one of Ohio's most sought-after players in the Class of 2012. Major college programs from across the Midwest have requested an audience with Dorsey, whose tour begins Saturday afternoon in Ann Arbor when Michigan hosts Connecticut.

Just how in demand is Dorsey, the sculpted 6-foot, 205-pound hammer?

When Notre Dame called to invite him to South Bend for next week's game against Michigan, he had to decline.

"I'm going to be at Ohio State for the Miami game," the unassuming Dorsey said. "(The recruiting process) is pretty exciting, but I really don't think much about it now that we're into our season."

Cincinnati has shown a great deal of interest in Dorsey, but he would prefer to play for another Ohio school.

"If Ohio State offered, I'd come running," he said. "I'd run all the way down to Columbus with my bags in my hands."

Definitely one of my favorite quotes from a recruit in recent memory! I think it's safe this kid wants to be a buckeye. Anyone here know if he is likely to run with bags in hand to Cbus?

hopefully this kid keeps at it...mansfield senior has not been known for their football teams and i think the last recruit to come out of mansfield was Jamario Oneal (played 3 years in mansfield before transferring to glenville)...being from the area i love seeing players from the area go to ohio state so i hope this kid can get an offer...good luck to him :osu:

Ditto, any kid from the Mansfield area with an OSU offer is a lock.

We won't mention to Stan Jeffererson that you said that...:wink2:

Anyway, yeah, I actually had this discussion with a guy in my Store, mostly about Basketball players from this area that were unbelievable but just couldn't stay out of trouble... (Yeah, I'm from there too, or the conversation wouldn't have happened.) That's no reflection on Mr. Dorsey at all, and I'll be rooting for him.

Tygers dominate brawl shortened game | mansfieldnewsjournal.com | Mansfield News Journal
The fight put a damper on what should have been another rousing victory for the Tygers. Junior running back Terrell Dorsey was on his way to a career night, rushing for 105 yards on 12 carries and three touchdowns. In addition to his defensive TD, Supron scored on a 33-yard catch from quarterback Terrance Deener. And Terell Harris was a diminutive dynamo in the secondary. He put a devastating lick on intended receiver Tamaine Chappell and stripped the ball from tight end Curtis Hines after a 44-yard catch that ruined Marshall's best scoring opportunity.

Dorsey, measured at 6-foot, 203 pounds, was clocked at 4.68 in the 40 and had a 34-inch vertical jump. He bench pressed 185 pounds (the pros test at 225) 18 times.

"I was scared before the combine because I got sick for about a week and a half and lost a lot of weight," Dorsey said. "I was able to gain it all back, but I didn't know what to expect in the bench press since I had separated the AC joint in my left shoulder against Marion (Harding) and was off the weights. Now I've got some confidence back."
"I'm proud of myself for getting picked (for the combine)," said Dorsey, who rushed for 988 yards and 13 touchdowns last season, averaging six yards per carry. "I felt like I didn't have a great combine, but I can't hang my head. I've got to keep working harder."

Dorsey hopes to improve his speed and get in the low 4.5s or high 4.4s by running indoor and outdoor track. He's been pulling a weight sled indoors at Ashland University under the watchful eye of Mario Davison, his personal coach since grade school. Dorsey has also put himself on a high protein diet in hopes of bulking up without losing any speed.

"I need to get my (40) time down so I can get ready for the next level," Dorsey said. "Glenville (which had two players at the combine) goes around and plays some of the best teams in the country, but it's not like that around here. This showed me what I'm up against (for a scholarship)."

Dorsey said he has heard from Cincinnati, Toledo, Bowling Green and Notre Dame. Kearns has already made unofficial visits to Ohio State, Cincinnati, Indiana, Notre Dame and Michigan and has heard from just about any major college you can name.

"The first letter I ever received was from Cincinnati a couple of years ago when they were up there (in the national rankings)," Kearns said. "I thought, 'Wow.' I wasn't even playing varsity then. A lot of it is coach Payne talking me up."

For Dorsey, attending the combine could help in his attempt to gain bragging rights at school.

"I want to set the bar at school and see if anyone can top it," Dorsey said. "I argue with Racheal (Mahan, the Tygers' All-Ohio basketball player) every day about who has the most spotlight. She's already committed (to Division I Indiana State), so she's got it ... but just by a little bit."
