'12 OH DE Greg McMullen (Nebraska Verbal)

Mr. Bucknuts Takes On Bowl Games And Recruiting | Football Article

* Now, do you think he is a Buckeye lean?...Class of 2012?s Greg McMullen (from Hoban) is a big time player in that class. Greg also has a big-time teammate (Latroy Lewis - a DE/LB) who is a prime consideration for that recruiting class, as well. The Buckeyes had them both down this year for a game early in the season. It was a big win and the recruiting staff started to look around as soon as the last seconds ticked away to get them safely back to the recruiting room in the stadium. But the field got over-run by Buckeye fans and McMullen and Lewis were lost somewhere. The staff searched for them everywhere only to find them - 20 minutes later - in the middle of the party on the field. McMullen and Lewis told the coaches they ?were having a blast!!" I guess they had a pretty good first look as Ohio State recruits!

Scout $ - Is McMullen Ohio's Best For 2012?

3/20

By BK...talks about his sophmore year and playing with an injury...talks about his strengths on the field and says academics will be the most important factor in his decision...favors OSU growing up in Ohio...also likes Alabama, UCLA and USC.

Considering the field of study he talks about being interested in, McMullen might be my new favorite recruit...

Gonna be a great two-man package... McMullen & Lewis.. they're gonna look just great in Scarlet & Gray

You can bet Notre Dame will make a push... Brothers of Holy Cross owns both institutions...

Hoban 30 GArfield 13

Hoban allows 13 first-half first downs... and none in second half

ABJ "Led by Greczanik and junior defensive ends LaTroy Lewis (5 1/2 tackles, including 3 1/2 for a loss and 1 1/2 sacks) and Greg McMullen (3 1/2 tackles and a sack), the Hoban defense forced four second-half turnovers (two interceptions, two fumbles) ... McMullen and Greczanik (four tackles and a fumble recovery) played a key role in the play that iced the game. After McMullen stripped the ball, Greczanik recovered and rambled 20 yards into the end zone"

Archbishop Hoban takes advantage of Akron Garfield turnovers to get season-opening victory - cleveland.com

"Our motto is 11 hats to the ball," said senior defensive back Nate Greczanik, who had an interception and scored the touchdown that turned the game when he scooped up a fumble caused by teammate Greg McMullen early in the fourth quarter and went 19 yards.

"I know we have two all-state [defensive] ends in Greg and LaTroy [Lewis] but we are not a one or two-man defense. We are 11 guys. All the plays I made were made thanks to the play of the other guys."

Greczanik's touchdown came when McMullen, a 6-5, 245-pound junior, stripped the ball as he chased down Garfield quarterback Darius Hoisten. It gave the Knights a 23-13 lead with 8:33 to play.

"If we're supposed to have one of the best defenses around, we have to prove it," said McMullen, who is regarded as one of the state's top juniors. "I don't think they [Garfield] got a first down in the second half."

Lewis, a 6-5, 230-pound junior, also had a strip and fumble recovery though it didn't produce any points.

Ditto in the Lewis thread...

Film Study: Week 1 | Ohio State Buckeyes College Football Recruiting, OSU Big Ten Football, OSU Basketball – Bucknuts.com

Greg McMullen, DL, Akron Buchtel (Class of 2012): Before the season, I said McMullen was one of two players who had the chance to really shake things up. McMullen played most of last season with one hand and for a period of time he played with both hands bandaged. He showed this weekend what he can do with two healthy hands. I saw a full half of his game this past weekend. I only saw him successfully blocked twice. He was a man on the strong side. He was making plays, and when he wasn't making plays he was being disruptive. His motor was running on overdrive on every play. His body looked perfect for a strong side end.
