I could see that as well...he seems to really like their program. MSU won't go down without a fight...they want O'Brien and Godin.
I got a chance to work with him at the Sound Mind Sound body camp at Wayne State U, first of all, great kid, great nasty attitude for his position, and he doesn't seem like he would be typical "Michigan Man" material.

Dantonio is trying his best to sway Godin away from Michigan. Looks like May 12th could be a decision for Godin. I don't think this will have any effect on OBrien. He is looking like a Vol as of now.

Flint Powers Catholic's Danny O'Brien is one of the top football prospects in the state. - (Sean Ryan | The Flint Journal)

It's one thing to read the hype on the football recruiting Web sites and message boards.

It's quite another to pick up the phone and hear the voice of Alabama coach Nick Saban on the other end.

For Flint Powers Catholic defensive tackle Danny O'Brien, moments like this reinforce the fact that he's an elite recruit who can pretty much name his college football destination.

"Talking with Nick Saban was really cool, because you always see him on ESPN, and now I'm talking to him on the other side of the phone," O'Brien said. "It's pretty sweet. With a tradition like that and national championships all over the place, it's definitely a big draw."

It's tough to top a program like Alabama, but most of the colleges on O'Brien's list have big-time traditions of their own.

Listed as a four-star recruit by Rivals and Scout.com, O'Brien has offers from Alabama, Cincinnati, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State, Pittsburgh, Tennessee and Vanderbilt. O'Brien also has interest from Boston College, Cincinnati, LSU, Nebraska, Northwestern, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Penn State, Syracuse, USC, Virginia and Wisconsin.

He is ranked the No. 17 defensive tackle in the country and No. 222 recruit overall by Rivals. Scout.com has O'Brien No. 13 among defensive tackles.

"It's something I've always dreamed of doing, being in this recruiting process, being a pretty big recruit," O'Brien said. "It's everything I've dreamed of. It's great to have this opportunity and a really good experience to see all these schools. You know you have an opportunity to play at all of these schools you go see."
