Strengths:
He has a chance to develop into a classic small forward. Taylor has the perimeter game down pat. He uses his jump shot as needed and plays well behind the line. In the lane, he's more of the crafty type than overpowering player. Knows his way around the rim and will even pull out a counter move. Comes from a very good high school program and he has a coachable attitude.
Weaknesses:
He has to strike a balance between his perimeter game and tools as a rebounder. When he wants to mix it up on the glass, and he should want to do that, he can be great on the glass. He has a natural nose for the ball that he doesn't use enough. Needs to develop his outside package more. A mid-range pull up would be nice and we aren't sure what kind of off the dribble game he has.
Bottom Line:
Taylor is a high-major recruit. The offensive tools are there and its merely a matter of assembling the pieces to round himself out into a big time prospect. He'll be a Top 100 talent.

Steve Taylor and Brice Johnson, both ranked in the Northstar Basketball Pre-July 2012 Top 100, both took the time to discuss their recruitment. So did Prince Ibeh, who will be ranked when the new rankings come out in August.
A 6'8 face-up power forward out of Simeon (IL), Steve Taylor was ranked #57 in the Pre-July Top 100. Taylor, who runs with the Mac Irvin Fire on the AAU circuit, said he holds scholarship offers from Missouri, Marquette, DePaul, Iowa, Xavier, Ohio U, and New Mexico.
In addition to those offers, Taylor (pictured on left) said he is hearing from Memphis, Texas and Ohio State. At this point he does not have any favorites and said all of the schools are coming after him equally hard.
Taylor, who said location will not be a factor in his decision, has already taken visits to Ohio U, Missouri and Marquette. He does not have any other trips planned at this point.
