This looks like a great offer. He's got the size, great 40 for a man his size, 3.5 GPA. Plus, although he's stated as being a right tackle, the QB is left handed so he's actually playing the blind side, which sounds right since he's got such quick feet. Of course, I don't know what kind of competition his school is playing against.

LA NIKE Camp: Best of the best

Jordan Simmons, OT, Encino (Calif.) Crespi

If any prospect had an excuse to sit out Sunday?s event, it was Simmons. The big offensive tackle has offers from around the country and is perhaps the most highly recruited player in attendance. That didn?t stop him from competing though. In fact, one of the most impressive aspects of Simmons? day is the fact that he took more reps than any offensive lineman. Simmons was itching to prove himself and dominate the competition.

At the snap of the ball, Simmons issues a powerful punch then shows effective feet and good balance. Simmons has the ability to play offensive tackle due to his feet and size. However, even if tackle doesn?t work out, Simmons could be an even better guard. Regardless, the big lineman is elite and he isn?t afraid to go out and prove it.

Jordan Simmons lives up to the hype

LOS ANGELES -- The hype surrounding last Saturday's Nike Football Training Camp at USC focused on the skill position players. But it was Encino (Calif.) Crespi offensive tackle Jordan Simmons who nearly ended up stealing the show.

At 6-foot-5 and 335 pounds, the ESPNU 150 Watch List lineman got the better of his counterparts across the line of scrimmage in the morning session. And little changed in the afternoon -- Simmons dominated from start to finish and was awarded his position's MVP honors as a result.

"Things went well for me, and that was important because there was a lot of big names at the Nike camp,'' said Simmons, who is in the midst of a mini-break from football-related activities before spring practices begin at Crespi the first week of May.

"I got a chance to see how I measured up against some of the top competition out there, some of the top guys in the country. My goal was to come out and establish my name and move one step closer to becoming the top offensive lineman in the nation.''

Simmons, who transferred from Dorsey of L.A. prior to last season, is so heavily recruited that he can pick just about any college he wants. On Monday, he said some of his favorites are USC, Oregon, Washington, Cal, Miami and Ohio State.

?I was up in Oregon last week, and it was nice,? Simmons said. ?I was supposed to start narrowing down my choices a couple of weeks ago, but I haven?t gotten around to it yet.?

Jordan Simmons of Crespi: Top 50 football recruit
The nation's top guard is the quiet type, and he's still not sure which college he wants to attend.

Uncommitted star guard Jordan Simmons of Crespi (Encino, Calif.) is lined up next to teammate Stephen Hutchinson in this photo. The big question about Simmons is which team he will line up with in college ? and whether he will wear pink cleats.

You won't find too many similarities between on-the-field Jordan Simmons and off-the-field Jordan Simmons.

Jordan Simmons is the No. 1 guard in the
Class of 2012, according to recruiting expert Tom
Lemming.

On-the-field Simmons will loudly smash the opposition with his 6-foot-5, 328-pound body. He'll let them know that he's "the man" when he's protecting and paving the way for Crespi (Encino, Calif.) ballcarriers. He'll punish opponents.

Off the field, the nation's No. 32 overall recruit and No. 1 guard in the Class of 2012 doesn't take the same approach. He's respectful. He's conscientious. He's quiet.

The off-the-field persona has always been there. The on-the-field part has developed rapidly, and it has grabbed the attention of the top college football programs across the nation as they try to woo a verbal commitment out of the undecided big man.

"I played varsity my freshman year (at Dorsey High in Los Angeles) and everybody was more physical, so I had to adjust," said Simmons. "I was 14 going into my freshman year. I was a big dude and I was semi-tough. I didn't know what to expect out there. Being tough was the hardest part."
