'11 TX LB Anthony Wallace (Oregon Signee)

That bit sounds almost word-for-word like a description of Laurinaitis, especially when you throw in a 3.5 GPA.

To anyone in the know about his recruitment: what are the odds of him leaving the state to go to school?

Not "in the know" but based on his list, he seems likely to leave the state.

I would guess Oklahoma will be tough to beat, but get him up here for a visit and you never know.

Once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thy foe, who being naughty in My sight, shall snuff it."

I'm not "in the know" either, but people I know that claim to know people that know other people that are "in the know" are saying "Miami" is the school to beat.

Wallace says he wants to be a pilot and hopes to major in aviation or engineering. He reports a 3.5 core GPA but has not scheduled to take the SAT or ACT yet.

Aviation would be awesome but I wonder if his scholarship would cover the additional cost of the fuel, flight time, etc. Regardless, I'm all for taking a top linebacker from Texas after they took Hicks last year.

Scout $ - Wallace officially down to five

8/27

From LonghornDigest....Top three of Miami, Oklahoma & Ohio State (no particular order), while also considering Arkansas & Oregon. Talks about his interest in each school & says he will take officials to all five. Says early playing time, his position coach & the players around him are most important to him. No timetable for a decision.

5 thoughts/updates from Glades Central vs. Dallas-Skyline | High School Buzz

5. Skyline probably played some of the best defense Glades Central will see. I was more impressed with junior LB Peter Jinkens and senior DE Marquel Bryant than I was with all-everything LB Anthony Wallace. But what do I know?

Well, actually, what I do know is that Skyline has a fast, smart, strong defense that bottled up Glades Central in the first half and got all kinds of penetration into the Raiders' backfield.

Dallas standout Wallace in control
(AP)

DALLAS ? Anthony Wallace was just another linebacker at Dallas Skyline High School last year. Now he's being touted as the next great one at a school that routinely sends the quarterback of its defense to a major college.

Coaches were content a year ago to let Wallace play a secondary role to a pair of Division I-bound linebackers in Corey Nelson (Oklahoma) and Domonique Patterson (Texas A&M). Things are different now.

"He's kind of been the pup growing up with the other linebackers that graduated the last three years," said linebackers coach Jason Todd. "I'm looking for him to turn that next page and be a dominant force play in and play out."

Nelson was a rare two-time first-team selection on The Associated Press Sports Editors Class 5A all-state team, topped by the Defensive Player of the Year award last season. Wallace isn't as fast as many of his predecessors, but is a better mix of speed and size for a middle linebacker.

"I really feel Anthony has the potential to be the best one," Todd said. "He can run. He's very physical. He has a real nasty linebacker mentality on the field."
