UC QB recruit Coyne may return this week | cincinnati.com

Badin senior quarterback Patrick Coyne said he expects to be ready to play Saturday night when the Rams host Chaminade-Julienne - a week earlier than initially expected.

Coyne suffered a broken collarbone on the first drive of the second quarter in Badin's 29-8 win over Woodward Aug. 26. Coyne said last week he planned to resume practice today.

Badin coach Bill Tenore said last week Coyne needed to be officially cleared by his physician to practice. Tenore said he doesn't want to rush anything or skip any steps.

"Pat has been very supportive of his team," Tenore said.

Coyne, who verbally committed to UC in late March, has been throwing and running in preparing to return to practice. He said the injury has made him value his time on the field and allowed him to be a leader on the sidelines.

"It's giving me perspective to evaluate my game from a different level," Coyne said.
