Scout $ - LM Chris Boles Enjoys Michigan Junior Day

1/20

From GBW...recaps his UM junior day experience...plays both guard and defensive tackle...grew up a UM fan and his father is a big UM fan...Toledo has offered and OSU is talking to him.

Scouting Ohio

Bowling Green has now offered.

I know both Hodgepodge and crazybuckfan40 really like this kid...

Same high school as Dane Sanzenbacher and me, but I don't count. Went back home to see Central play twice last season and he was destroying guys off the line. I like him more on offense. Quick off the ball on defense but takes himself out of the play often.

He also has a class of '11 linemate named Kyle Cameron who would be a fairly highly recruited player if he was a bit taller (he's listed at 6-2 285). I personally like Boles as an OG. At one point I thought he had a lot of potential as a DT, but he's just not been dominant there.

I do, and from those articles there seems to be a little more action with his recruitment than I had heard...

He has a lot of competition for an offer tho, hopefully he comes to camp...I would think that is when he woudl have to earn his offer...

Agreed. He's kind of built a little oddly for a big man. Not sure I buy that 6''5 reported height. Reminds me of an old-fashioned nose guard in his proportions. Could be a mean OG.

Yeah, I think he's more like 6-3 and he still seems to be carrying some "baby fat". He might become a monster in a college weight program. He's great as a pulling guard and is obviously pretty athletic for a big guy. He simply lacks the burst and and explosion necessary to be a dominant defensive tackle at the next level. He's got guard written all over him.

ESPN 970 WFUN - Sports Report Memos

* "Under-rated, under-rated"...We talked to the former head of personnel for an NFL team last Tuesday and asked him who he thought were the most under-rated Ohio high school players were in the state. He said:

3 - Chris Boles - OL - Toledo Central Catholic. "He is in better condition than Walker. He is just as nasty. He moves people in a way Walker doesn't. I can't understand why he does not have the offer list Walker has."
