*on the side note* do you all think that gator is losing ground on some recruits because of the season? i personally think it is due to the speculation that meyers' immaculate vision has been taken away since tebow's departure. in another word, God left gainsville with tebow to NFL.

Colleges pour in to see Pagan

Asheville High senior Jeoffrey Pagan essentially threw chum in the water for college football recruiters when he decommitted from Florida last month.

Now comes the feeding frenzy.

Alabama and Virginia coaches were on the Cougars' campus Thursday to visit with the 6-foot-4, 270-pound defensive end.

Clemson and Florida came in Monday, Georgia was there Tuesday and Asheville coach Danny Wilkins expected Georgia Tech and North Carolina to visit Friday.

"It's an important time (for recruiting)," Wilkins said. "These guys are running out of time and weekends to do it."

National-signing day for college football recruits is Feb. 2 and Pagan indicated earlier this week that he might announce his choice the same day he signs.

Pagan meets with Dooley

DE Jeoffrey Pagan (6-4 250) of Asheville met Thursday with Tennessee coach Derek Dooley. Several other schools have had recruiters in to see Pagan this week but Dooley is the first head coach to meet with him this month. Clemson, LSU, Georgia, Alabama, Virginia and North Carolina have been according to his coach Danny Wilkins. Pagan will make an official visit to Georgia this weekend. Though he is out with a knee injury, he will attend the Shrine Bowl next week and the Army All American game the first week of January. He will visit Clemson January 14th and LSU on the 21st. He's considering Alabama and LSU for that last official visit. Pagan was once committed to Florida but his coach said he's no longer considering the Gators. There is no favorite. "He said that everybody has got great football, academics and support," coach Wilkins said. "He said its going to come down to relationships." Wilkins does not expect a decision from Pagan until close to Signing Day.

Another player not at the Shrine Bowl is Asheville, N.C. defensive end Jeoffrey Pagan, who was selected to the NC squad but is not participating due to an injury. While Pagan isn't present, rumors regarding his recruitment certainly are. Pagan took an official visit to Georgia this weekend and most people expect this to come down to the Bulldogs, Clemson and Tennessee. Clemson is thought to be the leader by most sources at this time but no one has really heard from Pagan since his visit to Georgia.
