1) Scout $ - Three more offers

Ohio State, Florida State, & Kentucky have offered bringing his total to 22...

2) Rivals $ - Pagan will be able to name his school
Georgia Tech Football - Jamie Newberg - Feb 22, 2010

Pagan is very grateful for the opportunities being given him... His HS coach calls him tireless, explosive, & relentless... Athletic enough to play one either side of the ball he's open & looking for the right fit...

His team went 11-1-1 last year and lost in the 3rd round of the playoffs (had an unbeaten regular season). Not really sure how they had a tie, but they play 3A ball, which is pretty much the equivalent to DIII or DIV ball in Ohio.

4.63 at 6-4 250 lbs is amazing...and the kid has freakish athleticism for his size...when I first read up on him last week I was thinking future DT just based on his current size but after seeing film I think this is the kind of kid who could be a terror off the edge even if he adds 20 lbs during his college career. He might be one of those hybrid guys who can play outside and inside from down to down. His explosiveness and athleticism are as good as any I've seen on film in the 2011 class. Obviously he is VERY raw but his ceiling is extremely high. Would not be surprised to see him look long and hard at Florida...they were one school he seemed to be very interested in even after all of the attention picked up. He plans to narrow things down to 5 in June and take his officials. Clemson and UNC will be factors as well...

I find it interesting that versatility has become such an important factor that Ohio State looks for in the players it recruits.

First they began on the LEO side by looking for athletic guys that can drop back into coverage and rush the passer. Now it seems like they have moved on to the strong side and are looking for guys that are quick enough to play on the edge but also strong enough to play on the inside (like a 3-4 defensive end when the LEO drops into coverage).

I love the hybrid defensive system we are installing and the things it allows us to do on defense. As the coaches become better at finding players to fit the system it will only get better and the coaches can do even more things.

Jeoffrey seems like the perfect fit for the strong side here at Ohio State. I hope he is a fan of Cameron Heyward.

Asheville High School's Jeoffrey Pagan gets more scholarship offers
Bob Berghaus ? February 25, 2010

bilde

Jeoffrey Pagan (81) (Erin Brethauer/([email protected])

And the list keeps growing.

Add Kentucky and Ohio State has the latest football programs to offer a scholarship to Asheville High defensive end Jeoffrey Pagan.
That?s 20 offers for the talented junior and it could be more, according to Cougars coach Danny Wilkins.

?There are folks calling ready to offer Jeoffrey and he told me he wasn?t interested,? Wilkins said Wednesday. ?So technically he?d have more offers if he had any interesting in calling some of those coaches back.?

Pagan is the most recruited football player in the area since Jonathan Crompton, the former Tuscola High quarterback who recently ended his career at Tennessee. According to Citizen-Times archives Crompton had dozens of offers before he chose Tennessee in 2004 over a final list that included Georgia, Miami, Michigan, Nebraska and South Carolina.

Wilkins went through this a few years back when he coached backs Crezdon Butler and Johnny White, who chose Clemson and North Carolina, respectively. He said the landscape has changed dramatically since both of those players made their decisions prior to their senior seasons in 2005.
?Recruiting has changed since 05, the college guys are telling me and I?ve experienced it first hand,? Wilkins said. ?Everything has speeded up, things are occurring much quicker. (Pagan) got offers before Christmas his junior year. The whole calendar has seemed to move up.

The college guys are getting leads on sophomore prospects real early as well. It seems everything has moved up at least a half of year if not a whole year in their approach to it.?

Pagan packs 242 pounds on a 6-foot-4 frame. He?s athletic and quick, which he showed last season by making 54 tackles, including 11 for losses. While he is being recruited as a defensive end, his quickness makes him attractive to teams that use the 3-4 defense because he also could play the outside as a linebacker.

Rivals $ - Asheville defensive end impressed by the Vols
February 27, 2010
Austin Price
VolQuest.com

Coming off of a visit to see the Vols, Pagan says he doesn't have a top 5 but he's pretty sure UT will be in it once he does... He was impressed by the coaches, their schemes, & the facilities... Feels he's versatile enough to be a pass rusher & drop into coverage as well... Received an invite to play in next years US Army game today...

Scout $ - What A Difference A Year Makes
Jeff Baumhower of IrishEyes.com, Mar 8, 2010

The new ND staff "popped up", started recruiting Pagan & offered shortly after... He likes their tradition & academics but he needs to do some more research to see if the school fits his criteria... He's very pleased with the results of his transfer to Asheville last year... He was switched from WR to DE & everything else has just clicked ever since... No leader, no time table, no mention of OSU...

Scout $ Pagan Has Many Options
By Shea Dixon of TigerSportsDigest.com, Posted Mar 11, 2010

Up to 24 offers & he's had the most contact with schools "closer to home" (no more detail)... Wants to decide before the season & possibly by May... Distance won't be a factor but a chance for early PT & a history of sending DEs to the NFL will... No leader...
