Maryland is forcing football coach Ralph Friedgen out.
Friedgen, the Baltimore Sun reported, was told by university officials he cannot coach the team next season.

I guess this is why he was not at Maryland this weekend. Rumors are Leach could be in?

Maryland's the centerpiece of the Under Armour brand (ala Oregon and Nike... UA's run by a Maryland alum), and Texas Tech has a contract under UA. They've seen a whole lot of him. Striking with Leach while he's still out of contract makes a lot of sense... to me anyways.
That's my conspiracy theory. *takes detective hat off* Fridgen's got mediocre running through his veins. Leach doesn't do anything small. He goes big. Maryland's dying for that right now and they're willing to pay to get rid of Ralph.

Not sure if you can hurt Penn State more in recruiting then Joe Pa is doing right now. In the longer run, I question if Leach's style will play well in the larger media market that is Baltimore-DC.

While the coaching sitution at Maryland does have an impact on his recruitment, lets get back to Darius Jennings in this thread. :)

With Leach in I would think he would want to play for a more defensive minded program. He's got to know the emphasis will be on offense in the future at Maryland.

By BK...talks about the position coaches he spent time with and also about spending time with JT...says he fits in well at OSU...no favorite but says he might not make all his officals which are scheduled to include UCLA, Wake Forest and Virginia Tech.
